Your best Micro Four Thirds photo of 2011 CONTEST
« on: December 10, 2011, 02:39:34 PM »
Alright members, let's see what you've done in the year 2011 with your Micro Four Thirds Camera! We are offering a substantial prize this year, and a followup prize to the runner up in the voting. So here's how it works!

In the submissions thread (HERE) you will post your photo. You do not need to include EXIF data at the time of posting your photo, but in order to be considered you will need to have it readily available if your photo is chosen as the winner of the contest.

The submissions thread will be open from today until January 2nd, 2012. Only photos taken in the year 2011 will count, and only photos taken with a Micro Four Thirds camera will be considered.

You can use any lens from any brand, as long as your camera has the Micro Four Thirds logo. You can photoshop your photos as much as you'd like, along with placing signatures, and anything else on them.

The voting thread will open after this thread closes. We will number each photo and members will get a chance to vote on their favorite. Voting will close on January 30th, 2012, and the winner will receive a prize of $100 either mailed to them, or transferred through Paypal. A runner-up prize of $25 will be awarded to the second photo with the most votes.

If there is a tie, then the two photos tied will be sent to a new thread, where members will vote again until a clear winner is defined.

If members have any questions about the contest, post them here.

Submissions thread:
http://e-p1.net/welcome-to-the-forum!/your-best-micro-four-thirds-photo-of-2011-contest-submissions-thread/

Good luck.

Onward!

Only post a single photo, and not in this thread.

is it legal to open a thread an ask for an opinion of which?

Lol, I was thinking the same. One of the most difficult things is to choose 1 picture from your own collection.
I guess you have to choose the one you like the best and not the one you think others might like the best.

Well, that would be like pre-voting opinions, wouldn't it?

you have to go with your heart, with this one.  Trust your judgement.

You may have to lock this thread!  ;)

Out of curiosity, why are images restricted to 800x600 pixels? The LCD display on the back of many cameras is better than that! If we shoot square, do you want 800x800 or 600x600?

My heart and judgement sucks! I'm really bad at choosing from my own stuff. I've kinda narrowed it down  to the red beak parrot, Mr boogie oogie from the carnaval and the darkness which a lot of people liked but from there its imposible for me to choose!

Well, if you use gallery rules squares sides have to be equal to the width of  the landscape maximum width, which would be 600 x 600 then, otherwise the squares would appear bigger then the rest and size affects judgement.

You have to post it in the other thread or it won't count.

I don't see why not.

If this is correct and the maximum image width is 600 px, then half of the 12 images submitted so far exceed this dimension!  ???
If it can be 800x600 in either landscape or portrait, then only one image is out of bounds.
To be fair would it make sense to say the maximum size is 480,000 px which means a square frame would be about 700x700 px, 5x4 would be 780x625 px, and 16x9 would be 915x515 px? Maybe someone more familiar with contests than I am can clarify the acceptable dimensions.

I will post something eventually, I need to scour the archives.

Then again, I may not have yet taken by best (to me) Mu43 image yet... :P
