Taken at a small pond, two pictures; one standard color the other infrared. Use infrared for luminance (NASA Hubble picture technique)

I would be hard pressed to pick my best photo of this year...there are about 20 that I'd spend hours deliberating over (do I go for a landscape shot, a portrait, an architectural shot, macro?), so I'll go with the one that has the biggest emotional response from me:  This was manually focused at f/2 with my GH2 and Canon FD 50mm f/1.4:

Taken about 2 months ago with an E-PM1 and the 20mm 1.7.

A totally spur of the moment photo. Was wandering down the beach in the early morn, when this guy happened to walk by.

Fall scene in Ayer, Massachusetts
« Reply #19 on: December 12, 2011, 05:44:21 AM »
If I have to limit myself to pictures taken WITH the E-P2, it would probably be this fall scene in Ayer, Massachusetts where I live. I've photographed variants of this scene over the last 10 years. This year I was afraid I had missed the shot, as it was a weird fall. My father came out for Columbus day when usually the colors are at their peak, but we only had patchy colors without driving 2-3 hours north. My father's travelling companion who lives in Nebraska did mention as various people apologized for the relative lack of colors, that they still were much better than anything they had in Nebraska.

So anyway, the colors start turning closer to Halloween, and before peak, nature throws us a curve ball of a freak wet snow just before Halloween. We lost power for 5 days (we have a generator, but I missed powering the thermostat in addition to the oil burner itself, so we didn't have heat). Right after the snow, it forced the trees into doing the color bit, and I was able to capture this shot. Taken with an Olympus E-P2 camera with Olympus-m43 14-150mm lens, f/8.0, ISO 200, 1/250 sec, 58.0mm, auto mode, vivid color, SHQ, matrix metering, image stabilization:

Here's one of my favorites. I was getting ready to cross the street and saw the sun was just going down behind the old Basilica. I didn't have my tripod, but wanted to try an HDR to get the range of blazing sun and deep shadows. I braced myself against the traffic signal to minimize movement and blasted off a 7 seven shot exposure bracket. Here it is......

This was taken on March in Utrecht, the Netherlands. It's a laser artwork created for Utrecht University 375th anniversary.
