Hello all,
Yesterday, I was walking down Lexington avenue at about 57th street in NYCity to test the Canon S90. I crossed the path of this active member of the E-P1 community who convinced to discover the website.
I'm an amateur, specializing only in compact cameras. I'm not a fan of Olympus compacts generally speaking for xyz reasons and don't own one. However, I've considered investing in an EPn or E-PLn camera (n being an integer) one day. So... here I am!
I own the legendary Fuji F31fd, the great underdog F40fd and the super versatile Sony T100.
I've tested so far these cameras and had tons of fun with many of them: Panasnonic TZ3, TZ5, LX3, Fuji F100fd, F80EXR, Canon SX100, SX210, Sony W170, H55.
Soon hopefully, I'll have tested the S90, LX5 and F300EXR in my list.
The results in terms of pure IQ: no compacts have beaten my cameras as of date :).
My photo website, though I don't update it too much: http://www.flickr.com/photos/ericderouge
Praise to Thor -Eric

I think it's him. I don't remember his log name but it sounds like it. He told me he had about 2000 forum posts or something like that. Thanks!

gee your swelling my head ,  :)

hi ,eric  de rouge...i glad you found the site and have joined and introduced yourself , your canon s90 is a sweet little machine with outstanding image quality and a zoom that starts at f2, thats my kind of compact!

o0ne of the things i love about ny is the fact that you  often pass other shooters in the street with cool machines [ like the canon ], youve gotta pause and take a look

also i have to thank eric for information about a classic fiji point and shoot with absolutely stellar low noise and excellent iq  .... i believe it was the
fuji fd31? , but even used this 6 mp camera commands over 300 dollars!

was the lower prices fuji with the same sensor the 40?

i hope eric will start a thread with fuji sensor cameras as a topic ,
i for one am really hoping for a fuji sensor in a next generation pen or
gf1 type machine , im sure that would be an interesting topic for the forum
and would be well read....

anyway, welcome to you  eric de rouge
and also to the other new members who have recently joined the forum
cheers

Hi, I'm Erik from the Netherlands. I have owned my E-P1 since january this year and this is my first experience with a 'real' camera with changeable lenses, control over depth of field, etc.

Before this i already started goofing around with a Holga and Diana+ 120 film camera, which started my interest in 'actual' photography.

I love my E-P1! I own the two kit lenses, an Olympus 40-150 mm 4/3 lens with m4/3 adapter and a Keiko fish eye adapter lens, the 17mm viewfinder (which i don't use, but it came with the kit) and a FL-14 flash.

I'm really looking forward to learning from all the experiences from the m4/3 community!

Hello everybody!!!,

I would like to introduce myself, my nickname is niva_explorer and I am a Spaniard living in London.

I recently entered the m4/3 world with the Olympus EP-1 and a few lenses (one of them adapted), I am loving the camera and the possibilities that it offers and its compact size, so I am ready to learn from you all.

I've been taking photographs for a few years with Fuji superzoom cameras, you can see a few of them in my flickr page: http://www.flickr.com/photos/nivaexplorer , I hope you like them :)

Well, happy to join this community!,

Regards!!!,

Hi. I'm waiting on the arrival of a EPL1. I've been a Canon DSLR shooter for years but thought I would give the micro four thirds thing a try. Looking forward to learning a lot from the forum here.
Thanks,
Jane

Welcome, Jane! I also switched from a Canon DSLR to the E-P1 and haven't regretted it one bit. Mine was an older 10D and its image quality can't hold a candle to the E-P1. If you don't sell your EF/EF-S lenses, you can buy an adapter and use them on your PEN, though functionality is somewhat limited.

Hi! I'm a semi-retired attorney from Illinois, USA.  Been using a Nikon D70, which I like, but thought I'd give the e-p1 a try.  I'm in my first week and so far it's taking great pictures.  I'm gradually working my way through the manual. Where would I get a Nikon to e-p1 adapter?  I have several Nikon lenses that would expand the usefulness of the e-p1.  So far I'm just using the 14-42mm zoom that came with it. I'm glad to find so many people with these 4/3 cameras - I am looking forward to learning the subtleties of the e-p1 from you.  Thanks.
