Hello Everyone;

Happy to join the group. I purchased the E-p1 last year but was never comfortable with the lack of a viewfinder. Now with the E-p2, the full potential of the MFT system is becoming apparent.

With 50 years of experience in photography, you would think I would be satisfied with the Canon and Nikon DSLRs, but the weight, cost, and digital rot have become too much of a burden, not to mention the blurring caused by the low pass filters.

The best camera is the one you have with you, but this E-p2 is on my desk even now, waiting for its evening stroll and I can't wait. The many adapted lenses are a constant source of excitement and this forum helps provide the knowledge to choose and enjoy.

Looking forward to talking with many of you.

Hello all from Massachusetts!

I've been using point&shoots (Powershot) for a long time, and finally taking the jump to being more serious about photography.  Initally I was looking at a Rebel XSi, or another traditional SLR, but was drawn to m4/3 after a suggestion of the GF1 from a friend.  I stumbled across this site doing research between the two M4/3 cameras.  I really ended up liking the EP1 better, and think I'll end up purchasing it.  The cool retro style fits my taste, and I think they are so good, each of them, it's really up to personal taste for my uses.

I'm looking forward to getting mine right before my wedding, and giving it a trial by fire in Spain on my honeymoon!   8)

Hi! Piotr aka Piter from Poland here. Just got GF-1 with 20mm f/1.7

Why u4/3? Well, I wanted lightweight backup for my Nikon system... and I'm amazed what can be done with u4/3! This should be a lot of fun!

And that's me:

Just received my e-P1 a week ago and have spent some time shooting, both in the street and landscapes. I also have 2 Nikon DX cameras. Left shooting film a year or so ago and am fully engaged in digital now. I thought the 4/3 format and size would be great for street use. Have the 17mm and 14-42 zoom.

Hi everybody,
I'm Barbara, i'm Italian and I'm an olympus lovers-user ever since.

I started my trip together with Oly in 1995 with an E-300, then E-1 (always in my heart), and now E-3 + E-P1.

I use my E-3 (and also E-1) for my greater passion: nature and wildlife photography... and E-P1 for my work-travel and/or landscapes.
I'm enjoying using the last one together with old manual lenses like Oly OM  and Voigtlander and together with them I'm descovering again the enthusiams of manual photography.

So, let's go seeing shots and hopeing to learn something and grow up with your suggestion.

Thank You !

Hi everyone,

I'm Brian, and I just ordered my E-P1. I'm brand new to photography -- my last camera, also my first camera, was a 3.2MP Canon SD200 that I literally used to death (it doesn't even take photos anymore). I'm excited to join your E-P1 community and learn more.

Cheers,

Brian

Hello everyone

Ive been a photograph lover for a long time. Decided to try my hand at photography on a personal/hobby level.
I chose the E-P1 to learn some basic skills and still have a quality auto camera.

I have a ton of questions. Going to take a look around to see if some have already been answered.

See ya ...out there.

It’s excellent for street photography. The amount of photographs of the street it takes are phenomenal. It also likes to take photographs of the pavement, and the vast majority of the photographs I end up with are of my feet.

If only it would actually photograph what I point it at at the time I’m pointing it at it, instead of what it’s pointing at a few seconds later, which is typically the street, the pavement, or my feet.

Greetings from Bulgaria!

I'm Nikonian but PEN is my choice for compact everyday system because of too many factors... but the most important one for me is that the system is open... via adapters... I can use so many lens with my cute E-P1...

And it is perfect for street photography also...

Hi all. Been lurking for a while now.  Just got a EP-1 and love it so far.  I'm a semi pro photographer and mostly canon user from the US Gulf Coast.  Thanks everyone for their help so far.  Can't wait to delve deeper into the forums.

Thank you. Recently purchased an E-PL1 with viewfinder/14-42 & Panasonic 20 1.7.  Longtime Olympus user ...shooting photojournalism with an E3 and multiple lenses here in NYC. Trained as an art director/designer but have been a photographer as well for years. Like edgy/urban photos. Have been a big fan of my Pamasonic LX3. Anxious to work with my Pen.

Greetings All.

Pretty much committed to purchasing a E-P1 or possibly a E-PL1 in the next few days (if not hours).

I spend my days as a TV News editor and have been in search of a nice little digital camera that would shoot some decent video and still be on the smallish size but give me some lens options.  Up till now I have been shooting various Cannon Power Shot cameras for theire video function and increasingly have been frustrated with poor Lens speed for still photos and horrible options when it come to lenses.

The size of a DSLR has kept me from using that. So the Penn... well it almost seems to good to be true. Very exited to find that such an option exists!

Welcome, guys,
FettaHaHa, you are at the right spot - video by E-Px is as good as with a professional camcorder and you can adapt virtually any hyper fast legacy prime!
