No, not the cute little ones that you can take macro photos of, the ones that make the forum not work quite so well. Let me know what they are here.

I sometimes get "server forbidden error." It say I am not allowed to get here. Sometimes when I get to the home page and then click a link to another place on the site, it gives me an error.

That's part of the unfortunate hosting plan that I chose almost a year ago, which hopefully will be changed soon. Just refresh the page and it should go away.

Mass upload feature does not yet recognize JPG and similar capital letter filename extensions on systems that make difference between lower case and upper case letters in file names. I have to use some scripts to mass rename files before I mass upload:
find . -type f | { while read line; do  mv $line `echo $line|tr [:upper:] [:lower:]` ; done  }
If you like the forum, or if you received a helpful tip here, why not donate a dollar or two to help us pay for its hosting?

Speak up now, because tomorrow there might be nobody left to hear you!

I get this error lots of times, like right now while trying to post:

Please contact the server administrator, support@supportwebsite.com and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

That's the error that I was talking about earlier, the forum has always had a problem with it. What was the other problem you were referring to earlier then?

Some time when I try to come to the site, I get an access forbidden error/warning. It is like the site is blocked. I have been blocked by this for up to three days--both from my home and work computers. Naturally, I am just testing at work. :) This has happened to me a half a dozen times.

Ah yes, I think that's related to the other problem. Unfortunately the person (the 43rumors owner) who set up the website originally used a very unreliable hosting provider so we've been plagued with these problems since day one. Hopefully we can change to another one soon.

When I log in, I select the "Always stay logged in" check box. However, after an hour, I always get logged out (silently). I will have a forum site open and when I try to post or reply, I'll get a message saying that I can't post because I'm not logged in. Or worse, I'll start a reply or post, get sidetracked, then return and try to post only to get kicked out and my carefully crafted post ( ;)) is lost!

Doesn't "Always stay logged in" mean that I'll remain logged in until I explicitly log out?

Thanks.
Carl

A minor issue: ever since the site came back up, I've noticed that the little bar graph showing "% complete" below your user name is no longer showing---in its place is a single asterisk (*).

Looks like the graphics are missing from the spot where they are expected or the code that generates them is stuffing up.

Here's another minor issue: prior to the server crash, I was able to click the "New" icon and be jumped to my last post in the thread. Now when I click the button, it just displays the first post in the thread.

That is very strange. Nothing technically has changed that would affect that function. Hmm.

Hmmm. It would appear that your server host or whatever has added more Javascripting in the background (for ad tracking, etc.). The NoScript add-on in my Firefox blocked the new scripts. When I temporarily allowed "all scripts", the "new" button works properly again.

This would explain why the "new" button has been so flaky with me: it didn't work when I first joined, then it worked, then it didn't again. Damn Javascripts.  :-\

The forum displays photos poorly. If they are loaded on the site, there is usually a window with a scroll bar but no way to see the entire photo without going to a new browser tab. On my iPad the scroll bar is missing, so the only way to see the photo is to copy it to the gallery, an undesirable solution. Because I do most of my web surfing on the iPad, the window bug discourages me from using this site. I have not seen this problem on other photography forums.

If photos are linked to an outside source, the only way to see the entire photo is to go to that site. Again, an undesirable solution. Is there a way for you to scale photos on the forum, perhaps with an option to expand them?
