This evening my white Olympus E-P1 with white leather Olympus half-case and Olympus white leather strap, with Panasonic 20mm lens attached, was stolen. It had a Uniross battery inside, with a 4GB Play.com SD card (with all today’s street shots on it — and they were really good!).

It was taken from LA Fitness gym, West India Quay, London, GB.

The body serial number is H52501600
The lens serial number is 09LG3168948

If you see anything posted online with the exif data that relates to those serial numbers, after today (14th of May 2010) then that wasn’t me.

Sorry to hear about this. I know how I would be feeling right now if it happened to me. I hope it somehow turns out alright and the thief is busted.

Sorry to hear that. Been there before about 30 years ago losing a Nikon camera and my beautiful, new 28-45mm zoom so likewise know how you feel for your loss.

I was lucky and didn't lose any photos - that is must be painful.
Be nice to each other, life is too short for anything else.

Very sorry to hear about this. You should notify olympus, they have this program for returning stolen items if they come in contact with them again in the future. Not sure how it works, but it might be worth giving it a try.

Perhaps it's here in New Zealand?

I'm sorry for your loss but to send me an email under the guise of board administration is abusive.

I got an email, too. But I certainly wasn't bothered with it. Quite to the contrary. Everyone pile on kiwi. Inconsiderate little......ah, not worth the effort.

Kiwi, I sent out the announcement to everyone so that we could help him find his camera. You can unsubscribe to these announcements in your account settings if you'd like though.

Ian, Have a look at this.

http://www.stolencamerafinder.co.uk/

Entering the body serial that you posted above returns links to some of your recent photos on flickr, so it seems to work. Might be worth checking back every so often.

’Course not. It got stolen. They never just bring the things back.

I’m back to using film for a while, then, or my old Nikon D50 on big gear days.

That stolencamerafinder would be a good idea if it actually worked but it doesn’t. I’ve tried it many times and it only comes up with five of my own shots — all quite old, yet I’ve shot vast amounts and pumped them up online, in reality.

Did you notify Olympus that it was stolen?

I mentioned it to someone at Olympus I happened to be in email contact with over a different matter. How would one normally formally “notify Olympus” though — it’s a large organisation with no menu on the website for stolen cameras.

I’ve just had a browse around the website, and noticed there’s a provision for “registering” the camera, so I just have, right now. It mentions it might be useful in case it gets stolen, but I see no provision for actually telling them it has been, on the web site.

I found the entry point for the program on the Bulgarian site www.myolympus.bg
I could not find the corresponding pages on the UK sites though!
May be you should write an e-mail to olympus support e-mail as visible on the UK site.
