Please vote yes or no on whether you'd like a board added for the new Panasonic GF-1 camera.

Yes, the E-P1 is prettier, but I'm interested in a pocketable
camera with good interchangeable lenses, a large sensor
and a useable viewfinder.

If Panasonic winds up making the better camera, I might get
it instead even though I have a soft spot for Olympus.

IMHO, a Panasonic with a detachable EVF would beat an Olympus
with nothing but a rear LCD by a huge margin.  Competition is
good for us all.

Thanks for organizing the survey. Based on its outcome, we will conclude most probably that the "4/3 Community" part of our name is the key one...

All the best!

I came to this forum because it is about a specific camera and it's
users. In time, this forum will grow as interest in the camera grows.
There are many others forums on the net for other cameras etc,
but just this one devoted to a specific camera.
Why would you be interested in destroying that?

The forum will still focus on the E-P1 but the GF-1 is Panasonic's version of the camera. This is a Micro 4/3 forum, and we're not destroying the focus by adding similar cameras to it.

The forum started for the EP-1 as it was the first, but by being inclusive, the new models - EP-x and supposedly GF-1 can also have some space.

camera kin like the rumored panny should not be shut out, if it has a viewfinder i will buy it and use it alongside my imperfect but treasured EP-1

i use manual focus90 % of the time because of this camera and my small but growing m mount lens collection

I'll leave the poll up for another day or so, but it seems like we have a winner.

Now the question would be, where do we put it?

why make a servey when you know what you want?

haha im leaving.. bye

you just want more viewers and wanna have a famous forum.
i think the e-p1 forum should be for a small group only for olympus pen e-p1
and only that nothing else about it. if you jumble everything up, would this be like m4/3 forum instead..
its funny when you type the url e-p1.net when you arrive to a m4/3 page.

i thought this place was for only e-p1 people,
imagine some Gf-1 guys come in.. and start talking about the GF-1 but doesn't own a e-p1

if i were you and i had the time, id make a forum Only for the e-p1 and make it so deep that only owners can join. since there are tons of reviews out there we dont need to explain to much to non owners.

a real e-p1 forum should only be opened to owners of the e-p1 and in there there are tons of experiments and test. that actually explores the e-p1 to its max.

but this is just talks... i dont have time. to make one seems like there wont be one after all

I didn't decide to add the new camera until I saw that the survey was obviously in favor of adding it. Please don't leave though, you will be missed.

We have a section in the gallery for other photos that aren't taken with the E-P1. I can even add a new section for the GF-1.

I go along with Streetshooter and mijonju. This forum should be about the Olympus digital PEN only. Don't wanna start a "Oly better than Pana" and vice versa thing.

Joebee, as many of us have noticed over the last few weeks, the forum's activity has begun to decline to a point to where we need to add some new camera or feature to keep it going. Right now our GF-1 board is in the beta mode, but when it is all finalized, we hope that we can find somewhere to put it to where if you don't want to see it, then you'll just be able to collapse it and forget it was ever there.

I voted "no" because I liked the fact that this forum was mostly free of the intense "fanboy" flaming that has ruined the other forums. I just want to enjoy the camera and shooting with it, I don't want to have a continuous argument about what camera is "better". I would never have posted my "homemade viewfinder" in the other forums because it would have attracted a bunch of "see Olympus is garbage, Panasonic will rule" posts in stead of just having fun with it, for example.

Don't worry, no matter what kind of cameras are being discussed here, that will never be allowed on my forum.

OK - hold on  sec. - no need for drama/people leaving/title of forum changing etc.

We already have a 'other camera's' section right? Why not create a micro 4/3 section within this. Then we can post whatever we want within that sub-level.

Problem solved.

EDIT - oops, too late...

For my 1C - this forum should stay Olympus Pen related at least. The old film camera's are very popular... (iconic even). The addition of the Panasonic is a little odd in my opinion... like I said above, this should be done in the "other camera's" as a sub forum of sorts - or at least that would make more sense to me.

I agree with Zentrum.

I signed up to this forum because it was camera specific.

I think all other brands of m4/3 should have a sub forum type thing like Zentrum mentioned.

I thought I stumbled upon a great forum until I starting reading this thread.  I will look to see if there are other micro 4/3 forums out there that are more welcoming.

Only talk about the White Olympus E-P1 with 14-42mm zoom, but with a VF-1 viewfinder, or else you can shove it, because that's what I've got.

Lala, this is a very old thread. And by my standards, it is honestly the only one that I have ever dissaproved of. Why don't you look at basically every other thread on the forum to see what I mean.

Ian, knock it off.
