Newbie here - Lumix GF2 Owner
« on: August 15, 2011, 03:49:39 AM »
Hi all,

I purchased my first decent compact DSLR at the beginning of this year -  Lumix GF2 with the 42mm lens. I purchased this due its compact design without having to go to a bulky DSLR, but at the same time a great compromise over any other compact camera available giving me additional settings to play with and allowing me to change the lens at a further date if require.

One of the main reasons for choosing was its HD recording, giving me quality for recording in the cabin on the race track.

The GF2 I am chuffed with and I am no expert (yet ;)) however I am slowly getting to grips with it and all of its functions.

Great camera with easy touch screen display. Would recommend to all

Welcome to the forum! I've considered getting a GF2 in the past, but I'm quite satisfied with my E-P1 for now, for the most part.

the gf 2 is a sweet machine , ive got the gf1 and ep11edit  lol k mean the e-p1
you can have fun with legacy glass from the past with inexpensive adapters and slr lenses from decades past

a 50 mm normal fast lens from the 70s or 80s , once known as a nifty fifty were once "kit lenses" way back when ....they were produced in the millions by minolta, pentax, canon nikon, olympus
zeiss voigtlander ricoh konica etc .....

on a micro four thirds body like the gf2 a 50 becomes a  fast
100mm a perfect portrait length, your will have to work in A mode and focus manually, but the extra work will pay off in superb
head shots or whatever you shoot [100 is basically a short tele lens]  and will also also transform you from a newbie to whatever this crew is  ;D

we were all newbies , once , and when i get a new camera of lens im unfamiliar with im a newbie again , and i love it

welcome to the forum
and dont forget to post some shots in the gallery

Welcome to the forum! You can go to the gallery and upload your stuff in the Panasonic folder, and then copy the image id and paste it in any of the theme threads. Looking foward to it!
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...
