Happy (2nd!) Birthday, E-P1.net
« on: June 30, 2011, 11:00:30 PM »
It's been two years, over fifty thousand posts, five thousand topics, and three thousand members since I started a forum that I had no idea what I was going to do with when I started it two years ago. A single little camera, the Olympus E-P1, is my inspiration for all of this. When the camera first came out as a mockup in 2008, I knew that I wanted one and I would get it no matter what happened. Two years later I own one and love it, and I am the owner of the very first Micro Four Thirds dedicated forum (screw the rest!).

But unlike my forum ventures before this one (which included a Star Trek forum with brief success), this one actually was able to capture something that I was never able to establish before. That one thing is the community. A small but very open and connected community of members who frequent this forum every single day, who aren't afraid to show us what their real opinions are, and are so kind and welcoming to newcomers in every single introduction post. These are the true heroes of this forum, and all that I have done is given them a place to be themselves.

So here's to all of the members of E-P1.net, and hopefully for many more years ahead of us!

Happy Birthday.

I dont know where my sanity would be if it werent for this place. Youve all been there in my best days, my sad days, my angry days and everything in between. I consider a lot of you friends and tremendously value your input. I find it more and more difficult to shoot something worthy of you guys, you make me better, you make me WANT to be better. Some of you are true inspirations, something that many people never experience, the chance to meet somebody that leaves you in awe. The world could end tomorrow, and this place is amongst the few things I would take in my heart.
Happy birthday, may this be one of many :'( ;D

Well done all, and particulalry well done Voyager......  this is a very friendly forum, unlike others I have tried.

I like this forum because the first thing people say about anyone's photos is "it like it because ABC, you could make it even better by trying XYZ".  Other forums, people normally say "It's no good because XYZ.  You shold have done ABC".

The climate in this forum is down you Voyager, so snap yourself out of that damn funk you were in the other day, and give yourself a pat on the back.

2 Years and looking at another 20. Well done and a wealth of info here, fine people and shooters.

All the best and the forum looks sharp.

Happy Birthday E-P1.net! I love this little camera and this forum.
I wish you and all the members continued success and enjoyment of the Olympus m/43 cameras.

I cannot wait to get the E-P3 and the new lens.

Happy Birthday E-p1.net.

Since getting my E-pl1 back in December this site has been a lot of help and inspiration for me.

Congratulations to Voyager on the creation of this forum and also to all that frequent it.

I periodically look at E-P1.net and enjoy the comments however, one suggestion....how about voyager showing your "real" name.  I do not like hiding behind pseudonyms as it is very un-personal.  You have done a very great job with this site and I applaud you that it is dedicated to a specific brand.

Happy birthday e-p1.net!  8)  Naming the site after a single camera model was an interesting twist and justified by the impact the E-P1 made at the time of its release. Good going Voyager! It's the nice people here who keep this site going; actually I found it after a member e-mailed me to tell me about it. Nice to drop in from time to time . . .

Wow, it just seemed like last week I was wishing E-P1.net a "Happy 1st Birthday". Time has flown. So here's my "HAPPY 2nd BIRTHDAY E-P1.NET!" greeting to this great forum!

Hey voyager: Speaking of Star Trek forums, maybe you should sneak in a Trek board under "Coffee Talk" and let all us closet-Trekkers discuss favourite episodes, futuristic technology, and why the few times they showed any cameras on Trek, they're so damn large and clunky!   ;)
