Back up and running again at full speed
« on: July 26, 2011, 01:51:09 AM »
I apologize for the recent slowness and downtime, folks, it seems our hosting provider didn't want to give us the full benefits of the expensive package we pay them for. I set them straight.

Look for some new features in the meantime.

Onward!

Working fine here now!  Like 'full-steam-ahead'.  Let's be positive and believe it will last.

I've seen slower.

It was good for a while, but the site has once again been very sluggish. I've even had some login problems, where the site's login page will not recognize the auto login from Roboform. This morning I even got a message saying an error occurred and that I would have to wait 2 seconds before trying again.  ???

Yeah, it's time we go to another host I'm starting to think. This one isn't being very nice.

Another host will hopefully offer better performance. Let us know if this would also mean higher fees, so that we can support you.

They're currently fixing this server again. This is their last chance, if this happens again then we're moving.

Don't mean to knock e-p1.net, because I love the sight.  But, the speed issue is "e x c r u c i a t i n g".

Wonder how many people just move on because of the speed.  Could be reason sight is not growing.

Hate to say it, but when I click on message on e-p1, I then go read posts on other MFT sights waiting for e-p1.net to download.

voyager will be pleased to hear that E-P1.net is the only photo site I participate in, so my loyalties aren't being sifted away during those painful refreshes.  ;)

But the sluggishness certainly isn't doing the site any favours growing its audience share.

If this isn't fixed by the end of tomorrow we're going to switch servers. Only problem with that is it's about $15 more a month for the lowest option on any other brand than what we are using now.

Voyager,

I really enjoy this forum.  The people are great.  The members have always been helpful and share their passion for photography and MFT.    I have learned a lot from this forum.

I have pitched in in the past and willing to help again to keep e-p1.net going.   Just let me know offline and I will help.   I'm sure there are more willing to pitch in as well.

Looks like they heard me. All fixed (for now), but I'm going to start exploring other hosting options.
