Focus Assist with Legacy Lenses
« on: February 14, 2010, 02:17:26 PM »
Today I tried my Nokton 35/1.4 on my E-P2.  It worked great except I can't figure out how to turn on the focus assist with this type of manual lens.  I looked through the manual but only saw it mentioned with the kit lenses.  Any advice will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks in advance.

@Burkey

1. Press the INFO button until you see a small green rectangle
2. Obtain a rough focus and then press OK button to get into Focus Assist Mode. Fine focus at magnified views (7x or 10x by turning the horizontal dial) to one's delight
3. Press OK again to get back to normal screen

If the green rectangle does not come along in first place, please check whether this option is active. (I can't remember whether its presence is in default set):

1. 4th menu tab
2. "D" - DISP/>)))/PC
3. INFO SETTING
4. LV-INFO
5. ZOOM - ON

Very cool.  This is a great forum for "digi-pen" folks.  The focus assist works very well.  Easy to turn on and off without removing your eye from the viewfinder.  I posted a quick shot of my son here under the "People" catagory that I used the focus assist on.  I was surprised how easy it was.

Awesome! I've got 4 legacy lenses that have been giving me fits due to the lack of a viewfinder. I knew there had to be a way to get focus assist to work but I couldn't figure it out. I joined the forum in hopes of finding an answer. Thanks!

I'm moving this (apparently very popular) thread to tutorials.
