I seriously doubt that they consider the GX-1 as a replacement for both G3 and GH2....

Well, yesterday and this morning on the B&H site, I saw the GH2 with 14-42mm "kit" lens marked as discontinued (not in red with the question mark near the top of the list but at the bottom without question mark).

GH2 with same "kit" lens was still available on their site with "basic" accessory kit and with "deluxe" accessory kit as was the body only.

Tonight the listing of camera with 14-42 has been taken out...Gone.

Possibly there's a GH3 or some other replacement coming, anybody hear anything on this?

I know for a fact that theres a new G coming, but I dont know if its a GH or G. It has to be a GH right?? What im not happy about is the rumor that the megapixel count might go down as much as by 2 mp in the next GH to keep the noise down and more importantly to downscale video more efficiently. Please let it not be true!
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Would Panasonic release a G and a GH at the same time?

Maybe,
B&H are restocked on the kits. But the G3 body is still back ordered.
By the time I ready to sell the G3 to buy a E-M5, I'll have over 10k on the shutter  :o, I have over 8k now (folder 107)

Wow, if it is true, then it is huge, actually it's the megapixel war in reverse. Update us on the issue when you can, pany may deserve our admirations if they did that. I don't believe that actual resolution will be affected by 12% less megapixels....

the problem is I want at least 2 more megapixels!!!Really what i want is 2800 lines of resolution. Heres..um...something, where it came from is irrelevant

At this point were sitting on a fence, its either compete with Sony's new sensor on absolute resolution or go with what we've developed with the compacts: the new sensor layouts, with more efficient processors and less megapixels for astonishing noise control. The latter is more likely to happen because so much has gone towards this approach and proven to work (on the compacts). New processors and algorithms optimize shadow noise reduction and highlight detail retention. The choice to go with the high megapixel counts in the past were purely from a marketing point of view, and they still have a very strong influence on that decision, but they've been more flexible on the subject as of late. Video is also responsible for a lot of the decision making, more megapixels make it difficult to implement the high quality output customers are expecting from future products. Nevertheless, were exploring new technologies constantly, and be assured that there IS a reason why the time cycles have grown in length, we want to introduce a very high quality camera that satisfies the high end enthusiast and even a few pros, but we're definitely being more cautious in the "leaps" we make. More megapixels is a definite possibility, but don't expect a huge jump if it happens. We will stay within the four thirds sensor measurement because we are able to make small sized, high quality optics that perform admirably across the entire frame, a problem that's very present with current APS C offerings. We feel that micro four thirds is of comparable performance to APS C, the sensor is not that much smaller, and what they lack in some areas they exceed in others like detail across the frame and resolution. The gap between the sensors never go over one stop.

The rest is blah blah blah marketing blah blah. Theres a lot of stuff there that theyve said before, but the new stuff destroys me, I love the absolute detail of my GH2. And I want more.

And I want a clean ISO 3200 and an usable ISO6400 and I don't like noise reduction at all. Go figure it out.... Maybe they shoud start making two versions - one for resolution and one for low light.......

I heard the GH3 is comming this year. Probably to put against to OM-D.
And I agree with adash about noise reduction. I don't like it either.

I really wish cameras would have a lower resolution. My computer can't handle the size of most of these files.
