There isn't a 150mm equivalent lens faster than 2.8

Kudos to Olympus for listening to us enthusiasts and bringing out more fast primes. I'm amazed that some people will still nitpick and gripe why it's not a 60 f/1.4 or a 100 f/2.0, or whatever. It's a fast prime, people!! Designed for m4/3, from a respected manufacturer!

Hopefully Olympus will price this competitively, like the 45 f1/8--that'll really make people sit up and take notice.

The second fastest lens after this at this range is also from Olympus

People really hate the 75mm. I don't get it, I really want it.

I don't understand it either, it fills a logical gap in the lens lineup. The filmmakers like the 75-85mm focal length for the 4/3 sensor, the 80mm summilux R which is virtually the same focal length is sort of a holy grail lens. The 4/3 sensor is really close to the standard 35mm motion picture aperture, the three standard high-speed prime focal lengths used to be 35, 50 and 85. In an interview set-up I would always try to use something longer than 50mm (space permitting). This new Olympus has to be a bokeh-monster.

I could see myself getting along perfectly well with maybe that new 12-35 panasonic, my 50 f1.4 Canon and this fast Olympus 75 for about 90% of my shooting.

Im trying to build a case for it. At 150 mm there is NO lens that comes near 1.8, and if its as sharp as the 12 or 45, then itll be impossible to beat. Whats there to hate?

I think they think it's redundant, or that nobody will buy it.

Ummm, a 75mm f/1.8 Oly M for $500.??

I see it closer at $600-$700, still cheap if you made it in APS-C or FF, that may sell around $1500+ IMO, and be much bigger!

I'll get it anyway, it'll just take a back seat to the panny zooms, if they ever get released

I think they think it's redundant, or that nobody will buy it.

I wonder what they think it's redundant against? Are people still that wedded to the "old" 35mm lengths of 85, 135, 200, etc.? Would they go ga-ga if Olympus had made it a 65mm f/1.8 instead? I don't get it--a 150mm equiv. is pretty close to the old 135mm standby, and I know that the old 135mm f/2.0 lenses were highly coveted. What's there to hate?

I have no experience with 150mm. Some with 135/2.8 on film yes, and it's a great combination for portraiture, but 150 FOV? I would be also very happy if they make 35/1.4 and 25/1.2. That would be awesome for low light and portraiture....

I agree a million percent. Another example is oly/panny 45mms, 90 is damn near close to 85 but people are still complaining that they need a 42.5mm. I find 90 mm even better for head shots. Why can't 150mm be better than 135? to me its more useful, more reach, more bokeh, you name it. What's there to hate?
