Diameter of 63mm and length of 54.5mm.

Price possibly less than $800, but less than $1000.

Also, the GF3 has a built in flash!

Like I was saying about Olympus being unable to break the f2.0 barrier.....

This Leica 25mm f1.4 is definitely going on my list...

THe size is OK, not really bigger than a FF 50mm f/1.4 AF lens.

I wander if the IQ will compare to the 50mm f/1.4 ASPH 'Lux?

So, they put a new mount on their FT lens. Nice to see, no doubt, but what we are missing is a portrait lens. If this was a 40/1.4 I'd be really excited!

Are you 100% positive that it's only a new mount & there's been no reduction in size at all?

If its 600$ ill get it the first day its available. And its a new lens, 2.1 inches long
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

If it's $600 then I'll even get it. That's how sure I am that it's not going to be $600 though.

How bout 700? (if the rumor its true about the less than 800)
BTW I would nave never guessed the gf3 had a in body flash. That's as compact as it gets with in body flash

What I said only stands for if it only costs $600 for it.

Looks like a very capable lens and perhaps something easier to get then my ordered Voigtlander 25mm f/0,95 xD

Rumour source actually says it is $800-1000, just like the older lens. It also has the same specs, with a downsize for the smaller  mount. I'd be very surprised if the optical design was different, so for me that means it's the same lens. That's not a criticism, by the way, just an observation. It makes total sense to revamp FT designs for MFT.

i do not believe it is simply a 4\3with a m4\3 mount and different housing cosmetics
the 20 mm less distance to sensor in m4\3 opens possibilities to more elegant and smaller optics to achieve the same optical goals .

i dont have any special info here , but i would be shocked if leica simply would allow
their name on thattype of optical shortcut when the parameters and the potential of the new mount changed the game so

i believe a comparison of the weight will lead to some insights

I love my 25mm f1.4 wollensak raptar which I got for $50. It's glass and metal. $800 plastic seems nuts. I can't wait to see the samples!

Of course, it is a more aggressive retrofocus design.
