What is pro ?
A real 'Pro' probably buys a full frame DSLR.
I think GX1 like cam is 'Pro' enough for M4/3.

Yes, and I'd bet many "Pro's" use a smaller sensor camera as an assistants, and 2nd camera...

So, I don't get it.... Yes, Panasonic does not have the Customer Service in place like C/N has for working Pro's. But, A High IQ m4/3 still can still have a place in the Wedding and Event market, and possibly the Family/Senior market...

The GX-1 may fit that bill. The G3 is tad too small, or I should say, the 4 way should be about 1/2" lower to avoid the thumb from changing the ISO w/o knowledge... (happens to me all the time  :()  AND Bring back the "Auto" switch between the LCD and EVF......In a fast moving job, those little change will make a world of difference!

whats pro?
all the GH2 needs is a battery grip that lets me get 900 shots and wireless flash control. And arguably better flash modulation. 98% of photographers (despite what they think) dont need weathersealing and unless you work for the nba 12 fps is overkill

pro or not there are certain touches missing from their lineup , as was said a gh2 grip for extended shooting and a vertical release, they need a great 12-70 2-2.8 a 35-100 2-2.8 a  remote flash . the gx needed a little more imho , i dont know why they didnt charge 300 more and build it with a great internal evf and a little more robustness , and a bigger battery , it really coulda been a killer camera

it wouldnt take much for oly and panny to make m4\3 more attractivbe to pros and semipros , just a few accessories and attention to battery life issues  and so forth .....rthat they havent is the greatest dissapointment to me

the 2500 dollars i spent with ricoh and 2000 dollars i spent with fujifilm could have been spent on m 43 equiptment  if the companies had simply had more focus and direction in their consumer offerings and didnt waste their r and d on a plethora of novice and beginner models
and 50 million kit zooms  and silly nonsense like snail slow zooms , all it tskes is vision and focus which i think both panny and olympus lack at the moment

the truest of true statements, a body doesnt make a camera pro, the lenses (and sensor) do. Which is why I dont have an A77 yet; fantastic body, good glass, crappy sensor

I think that French dude was talking out his a$$.

I've owned lots of Pro camera equipment, a professional customer service division was never part of the equation in a purchase decision. If you are buying $100K broadcast system-sure, the service contract is part of the negotiation, but I thought we were talking about mirrorless/dslr-like still cameras?  I know that Nikon and Canon do a lot of special stuff for the Sports photogs and maybe thats what the french guy was talking about.

I thought the modern professional service approach was to ban someone from buying your camera if you don't like they way they talk in your forum ;D

I think people are confusing themselves over nothing. The GH2 is considered pro level to most, isn't it?

This is from Panasonic.....
I think they mean a SYSTEM like C/N, where you need a world wide infrastructure to service working pro's on location.... For lens rental and camera rental if needed because of hardware failure...

I agree that "That" Level of infrastructure is not needed, but, by a select few..

I also agree the GH2 is well up to IQ standards needed for many Paid For Jobs...Weddings, Events, Seniors, Family's,  The Bread and Butter of Photographers that stay in a local area around their home.

BUT, Lenses that are fast, sharp, constant f/stop and well built are also a much needed element over the body, as you have said earlier in a post.

People always equate pro to having weather sealing.

It does have weather sealant gaskets, it's just not 100% weather sealed.

The 5D Mk II does have weather sealing but the Mk I does not.

The bottom line is that Panasonic does not have a "pro" market for still photography so it would be a loss leader for the range. Even Olympus failed in in the pro market with the E-# cameras.

Under "Key Benefits" from Canon's web site...

The EOS 5D Mark II also features improved weather sealing to keep the elements out and allow professionals to keep shooting in many varying conditions.

IMHO,
Olympus *appears* to be on the edge of something different & revolutionary yet again.....

I'm content with my older gear to wait now  :)
