Oh my, this is very exciting.  I'm going to have to spend some $$$ this year - probably to update to the E-P3.

This is going to rekindle my interest for these cameras (and for e-p1.net)!

Thanks to the admins for keeping me informed!

I'll be around Venice and Trieste in September.  Hopefully, I'll have the E-P3 by then.

In the dpreview.com P3 review under the "Revamped 'R' kit lenses" section is the following comment....

"Internally both 'R' lenses get new firmware for improved communication with the camera and faster AF, however older MSC lenses will be upgradable to the same standard."

Are they saying the current lens can be upgraded to take advantage of the faster AF without having to buy newer lenses?

Since the new AF uses the IR band, I don't see why they couldn't modify existing lenses to allow the wavelength to pass through.

There is no evidence to suggest they used the IR sensor method in the releases today. It seems to be simply from the faster sampling and processing.

I dunno, thats really fast for a place that dark. The GH2 doesnt come near that. Theres gotta be something more than simply faster readout

E p3 E p2 G3 ISO 3200 100% crops. You can ignore the g3 if you want, Id say the EP3 Looks better than the EP2

You mean the GF3? Everyone keeps referring to the last photo on various places as the G3, but it's not.

I think its a preference thing. Ive slowly learned that not all forum members share my preferences. To me, despite theres a bit more grain on the G3 file, I value waaaay more the fact that I can read the text all the way to the website and on the E P3 I cant. Preferences.

The G3 and E-P3 at ISO 3200 are very close, the E-P3 might win with very slight less smearing (both have minimal smearing imo).. I'd say any difference can easily be made better in post editing as far as the sharpness.

Note the subject size isn't the same in those samples. If the text looks bigger, it could make it easier to read.
