I think 1.000 dollars for a lens is expensive and will only be bought  by the pros (or freaks  :D)
Addicts, camera junkies, etc.
Like myself, but with more money in their bank accounts.

BTW, does anyone know if the price of 20/1.7 will drop after this one is released?

I'm one of those 'freaks', 'suffering mildly (?) of G.A.S. - Gear Acquisition Syndrome (photo gear only, I should add.  Not sure 100% that my wife will agree on that, - too much products from Mr. S. Jobs businesses around here, as well  :P   Just now she tells me that she can (easily?) 'live with it').

I'll probably buy the Pana/Leica 25mm.  But I'll not be in an hurry (like I was with Fuji's X100!).  I don't believe the $1000 US funds price will be reduced as as time passes by, - when did we see that happened with Pana/Leica branded glass of 'pro' build & quality?  Our (GAS addicted freaks) might probable come along when (and if) the Lumix brand presents a new version of the L1, if they then choose to bundle it with the 25mm/f.1.4.  Think I'll wait to see what happen with this one (if I'm able too), - a lot will depend on how the market (the obsessed and the glass-quality minded photographs are receiving it).

I think i read a rumor somewhere that they were quietly equipping the 20/1.7 with OIS.. Don't know if that one is true though, but if it is, it will almost certainly not make the price drop..

If that's true maybe a number of non-ois lenses will show up at reduced prices after the OIS one is introduced. Sort of a clearance, I believe. Or many users will desire to sell their non-ois lenses in flavor of the new one. Nobody knows....
