Hoya/Tokina Patents For Two New Micro Four Thirds Lenses
« on: January 20, 2011, 03:20:12 PM »

17mm f/2

Pentax and Tokina are teaming up to design Micro Four Thirds lenses, as shown from the patent above. The other lens not pictured is a 8-16mm f/3.5/4.5 lens!

If Pentax is designing Micro Four Thirds lenses, could there be a camera in the future?

Well, then, it would be Tokina Branded, with Pentax getting a royalty from each sale?
17/2 would be welcomed. I sold my 17 because f/2.8 is not my style. I like f/2 and faster, and I use f/2  and faster 60% of the time.

I know you did, but I wanted it to go on the front page. Your post wouldn't have been the top story (I'm working on a different portal system to fix that stupid workaround).

I think you posted that (and some more) several months ago. It's really an old rumor, and I have been so far patiently waiting for it to come true (but with no success).

Sorry I am not up to speed here. What/who is Tokina and assuming, for the moment, that the rumor has some substance--what kind of lens are we talking about? Is it a manual focus lens?

This is not known yet. It is very unlikely though.

What/who is Tokina
A lens maker. Makes great and cheap lenses on F and EF mount.

Ok so heres the confirmed stuff, Its an autofocus lens, there are two of them, pentax has absolutely no intention of joining m4/3s, optical IS is strongly being considered (more customers) and the part that sucks is that were at LEAST 10 months away from them being on sale.

I don't think it is the theme. Themes are just colours and fonts. What e-P1 needs is move to a faster webserver.

It's not our theme, it's our server's inability to carry us anymore. I'm working on it.
