Any release date on the panasonic 35-100?
« on: December 21, 2011, 12:24:51 AM »
I really need a better portait lens than the kit lens, and I'm torn between the excellent, cheap 45m f1.8 and the more versatile, unreleased, and presumably a LOT more expensive 35-100.

I think I'd rather have the 35-100, and I'm definately not buying both, but obviously I can't buy the 35-100 yet!  ::)

Has anyone seen a rumoured announcement date for the panasonic yet?  Would be good to know the likely time frame.  If it's not going to be announced till easter and/or not hit the shelved till summer then I probably can't wait that long so I may as well just grap the 45mm now and forget about the 35-100.
I spend more time removing sharpness than adding it...

Panasonic confirmed it will not be F2.0.  I would be happy with F2.8, anything slower then forget it.

Agreed.  i was hoping for f2.  I can cope with f2.8.  When I say "better" than the kit lens, what i really mean is "faster".  If it's f4 then I'd have no interest.

Next month, I believe.

Sweet, thanks.  I'll be waiting for that rather than going for the 45mm then :)

the 45 is a sweet lens , it should be in the kit of any serious m43 shooter , im getting one soon , it really is a must have lens imho ....if i were you id get it for the incrediable useful short tele point it gives the nice and pleasing bokeh , and it utility for portraits , its also very tiny which makes for a smaller travel kit
when that important[ and its always important :)]

im getting it soon

I'll probably get the 45mm as well.  Just waiting for post xmas clearance sales and more Olympus scandal fallout to drive the price down even though it is well priced now.
