Not sure Sigma would approve of the DP1 part...

Interesting if OM is part of the name.

Olympus has registered the name "Olympus OM-D" with the trademark authorities in the US for a camera system with interchangeable lenses, electronic imaging and viewfinders, etc etc etc. You don't do that without a reason...

Shall it look like an OM FILM camera?

I had OMD with P1 added for model variation.

I want a leak on the body!  ;D

I reviewed that application, and it turns out that it wasn't Olympus who registered it (they were the previous owners), but rather a trademark lawyer with over 1400 registered trademarks...hence I fear it is a false alarm.  >:( :( ???

Oh, someone trying to make a fast buck by "Beating" Olympus... So, IF, Olympus wants that name, the will have "Pay" for a name with their Trademark in it  :(
Damn 1% just don't get it.  Anything to rip off someone/something else to their Gain, but at a lose to others. A fair business deal "Profits" both parties.  (Olympus paying for OMD, is one party hopefully extorting another for Financial gain). Where Olympus has obvious rights over "OM"  for over 40 Years!

Like buying Domains that you hope you can sell at an over inflated price! It may be legal, but ethically it is wrong, and perhaps morally wrong also.

Rant over  :P

I think if it ends up being OMD, we should still continue to use OMG (maybe with a well placed mumble?) since it sounds so similar anyway.  OMG just still seems like the sweet spot.

If this camera is not a dressed-up Panasonic G3 I think I will call it the OMFG

Yes!  the new Pro camera will be called OM-D.  Now my photos will look as cool as a John Hughes movie.
