i would love to see the next pen have a built in evf with good resolution

a more articulating  screen does not "speak to me"
but a high res, low power, viewable in bright sun, amoled like the samsung
ex1\tl500 does :)

I am dreaming of a second small LCD on top of the camera, like the screen of the very first reflex cameras that didn't have a pentaprism...

Ah, you might be an Yashica T5 and its Super Scope lover as me! (a long tme Terry Richardson camera snapshoot machine)

that design would be a cool way for the next pen or panny to incorporate an evf with an angle mirror to send the image back that could pop out

that would be camera goodness

And it would help me a lot shooting from the hip without everybody noticing...

I like that little Yashica screen!

I don't know what an "articulating" screen is.  8)
it's a well spoken LCD... :P

More or less my point, "articulating screen" is jargon.

It is really useful when photographing in churches etc discreetly. I did a lot of that with Canon G1 & G3 before I could start with system cameras.

how do you call it then??
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

of course you can take the picture but an articulating screen gives you the ability to frame it perfectly on just one try. Then you can shoot other stuff instead of trying to get it perfect 10 times..

Its pretty handy on the E-3, makes it easier to work low without getting your knees dirty or go high without a step ladder so its definitely an advantage for composition. . .I don't know much about perfection though 8)

It's looking like we're not going to see an E-P3 this year, sadly.

More or less my point, "articulating screen" is jargon.

 - as in 'articulated' truck

Definition of ARTICULATED
of a vehicle : having a hinge or pivot connection especially to allow negotiation of sharp turns <articulated lorry> <articulated bus>

Whichever way - I find the 'moveable pivoting' LCD on my G1 a godsend that puts it in a different league than the vaguely useful offering on the E-P1. Together with the EVF it means that the Oly is the one most likely left in the drawer when I go out.

So the rumours have confirmed no more new PENs at Photokina? Pity. Just when Panasonic is making a push with their G10 and (rumoured) GF2.

I prefer having a screen like on the NEX instead of EVF. But i think next pen will have EVF to be more retro in design.

Every camera should just have an retractable screen and high resolution, otherwise its too hard to MF
cheers

I don't see a huge benefit to my shooting by having an articulating screen...  and while I agree that a built-in finder would be a huge benefit, I would rather it be an optical finder, even if it was similar to the finders on the Canon G series.  While not perfect, they give a good sense of the scene, are not hampered by low light, and you don't have to worry about a refresh rate.  And it would not add a large cost factor.  Limitations would be for those who use manual focus lenses... they would have to use the LCD.
you're crazy, this tells me you've never shot with an articulating screen. An articulating screen will give you the ability to shoot somethings that would be impossible otherwise (impossible to compose anyway). You can shoot super low angled shots without having to get on the floor or super high overhead shots. A VF for me is a necessity but if I have to sacrifice a built in VF for an articulating screen I'd do it, besides, the hotshoe VF doesn't add much bulk.

+1
All my last "Show us your Flower" photos were shot this way... All I did is sit on my knees and hold my G1 at ground level with screen aimed up..
I can't wait for the touch screen for picking the AF area, which I could used on a few those photos I posted in that thread.

well spoken screens are the future my tl 500\ex1 samsung 24-72mm equ 1.8 -2.4 has one and it allows otherwise impossible shots

articulated is also used in jewelry and antique object discriptions to discribe
object that are jointed or have pivot points
