Blue Angels - Image heavy
« on: February 12, 2011, 08:23:28 PM »
This is for you Voyager ;)

These are all shot from my balcony last year, a couple of days before the Miramar Air Show in San Diego

They are all shot with a Nikon D40, not a M4/3, so, please forgive me

I love them! I got to see the Blue Angels last year, damned things are really hard to photograph, you did a great job though! I saw someone on Flickr who had one of them up against the moon, were you not at an angle to manage that?

They are pretty fun to watch, for sure.  I do enjoy the show they put on.  Unfortunately, the angle of my building isn't great for moon shots at all.  But, they are great for getting aircraft shots coming out of Miramar. I'm about 2 miles directly off the runway, so, I get to see a ton of cool military planes all day while I'm working (I work from home).  It's an experience to have them buzz the building, I'm pretty giddy when it happens still, but, also nearly deaf after they fly past lol

The second photo, is the top corner of my building to give you reference. I'm on the 11th floor, out of 16 floors. It's still a blast though.

Thanks guys! I'm quite lucky to live where I live, and be able to get them so close! It's great!

I'll try to post some more planes of various types as they fly by, if I can get them.  I tend to see a TON of F/18's, quite a few C-130's, Hawkeyes, Osprey (hate em), SeaKnights, SeaHawks, and others of the like. I normally don't even grab for my camera anymore unless it's something unusual/special
