Winter meets Spring - fun with layers
« on: December 14, 2010, 06:09:59 PM »
A dark, damp, slushy Winter evening can be boring...

Some dismal pavement ice (contrast boosted)

Haunted by memories of Spring blossoms:

A layer added to the Cherry blossom in PSE (opacity 27%) and the ice pasted into it:

Brush Strokes applied from the Filter menu (Angled Stroke - Direction balance = 41, Stroke length = 9, sharpness = 6)

Suitable crop chosen that can be enlarged/reduced to suit (fine tuning optional):

= something artsy to reward your patience and hang in the smallest room (adapt as appropriate for grunge images)

Nice progression! I think to make it look more realistic I'd add more contrast.

Could indeed - or render it less contrasty and more pastelish..

just really a quick example of how easy it is to add atmos to a print quite simply...there's some brilliant stuff out there using textured layers that really enhance and sometimes give unexpected meanings'

this photographer being just one who makes some really dramatic stuff - some of it brilliant:
