None of the above.  But, I only started shooting in August.

Honestly, with the new baby, I would love to make some side cash with photos.  I did an engagement shoot two weeks ago and have three more lined up for the Spring/Summer.  Taking them on for free in hopes to build a portfolio.

I've been commissioned to take photos for a fashion shoot, and one photo of mine is now a record cover.  I'm not a professional, though, because I don't do this for a living... or even for money.  I'm a huge believer in freedom, in all its forms.  I don't expect to change the world, but if I do, it will be through leading by example.

(To clarify: I'll happily accept payment for my time, as long as the customer understands that the work will be freely available to all.  No takers yet!)

Back in the early 1990's I took Weddings (3-4 a month), I worked as a stringer for local Event Photographer who gave me the left over bookings that he couldn't book. Better than nothing.

I also had a friend that did a lot of model photography that I would hang out with. (He is a small time film maker in Ft. Lauderdale, Fl. now).

I also had friend that was a staff photographer (mainly Golf) for the Ft. Lauderdale News that I would hang out with on some assignments.

I have never had any work in galleries, nor have I tried. Never thought I was good enough.

Now, I have no connections, and photograph for my pleasure.

In that order, gallery invitations come to 4, self submitted come to like 1000, paid jobs a lot, anything from corporate portraits to christenings, about 2 dozen weddings (1 m4/3s), I have 3 in November and 2 in may, Im an official baseball team photographer, 3 commercial shoots, a LOT of product promo work (it used to be my steady work), company promos (ballet studios, museum, restaurants, make up artists), 2 calendars, yearbook shoots, runway stuff (just twice, its awful), and freelance for the paper (which is also kinda awful). Aaaand hopefully, this year Ill get a bunch of studio stuff. Im far from considering myself a pro.

I've had some images used in catalogs and magazines but it was always under the umbrella of an employer so I received no recognition or extra compensation for them.  At work I became known as "the camera guy" and was given projects that were heavily dependent on good documentation photography.

The closest I've come to being paid for an image was last week, I was shooting pictures for fun at a fund raising event for an animal rescue group.  A lady saw a photo of her dog on-line and wanted to pay me for a print; I sent her the image file so she could make her own and asked her to donate to the rescue group, which she did.   So my record of never being paid for a specific image remains intact!   :o

I've long said if I had life to live over again I'd try to be a pro photographer but at this point it's just a hobby until NatGeo or or some motorcycle magazine suddenly stumbles across my images on-line recognizes my true genius.   ;D

took head shots for child models  (way back when i was using film).

sold several photos to an art collector.  currently have 6 photos hanging in a law firm.

pending sale to decorate our entire trenton office with my work.

would love to be in a gallery or at least have an art show, people have asked about the latter. trying to put together an art show is expensive, but it's on my to do list.
happily photographing within my camera's limitations

100%

Earn all of my disposable income via photography.  I own the Lens Work Gallery in South Carolina where I sell my work as well as teach about 20 different workshops along with excursions as well as offer TRUE Gicle'e printing for artists in my area.  I am widely published in national glossies and billboards via agencies.  I have taught photography and photoshop for Coastal Carolina University for 10 years. I have stock agents.  I have had several music videos made with my images and have about 50 large B&W images hanging in the SC State House.  I have been a photographer for 45 years and am retired from kodak (meaningless!) I have a portfolio of over 200,000 images so far.  Served on the board of directors for CNPA (Carolinas Nature Photographers Assn) which encompasses about 10 eastern states and about 1700 members.

My spare time is spent traveling and taking images around the world.

It is a great lifestyle choice but the only way to really make it is to do workshops along with the sales....!

I have done 2 weddings.  The first was a disaster for me because I had limited equipment and it turns out little knowledge in lighting.  The church forbade any lighting not supplied by the church itself.  Live and learn.  Custom white balance is now a best friend.  The second wedding, a few years later went better, but still I lacked equipment, thankfully the photos were acceptable to the bride and groom.  As time goes, my equipment and knowledge increase, and hopefully my skill.

I've also sold many photos as note and greeting cards and a severak 8X10 prints of scenery.  Thus far, I've not had any work displayed in galleries, hopefully one day soon though.

I have gone in the opposite direction... I worked as a commercial photographer from 2000 until early 2004. I focused on editorial and advertising work. My images have found their way into magazines, print ads, billboards, and even the side of a bus (my wife happens to have been the model for that shot). I still see the bus when I visit the University at Buffalo campus.
I left professional photography in 2004 to pursue a career in teaching and I now work as a school administrator.
My current photography focuses mainly on personal projects, including first year, which will be published via blurb.com in the next few weeks.

So is that a "real world" review?  Or will you photograph a test chart also?
And give a little both worlds?

Which lens?

I do not want to turn something that relaxes and decompresses me, something I love and enjoy and do with passion, into a job...into work.

Which lens?

I do the real world, they do the charts. It has been completed already. Chart wise it does around 72-78 lpph from f2 to f4 which is sharpity sharp sharp sharp, but not the sharpest mft lens theyve tested (the sharpest is the Voigtlander Nokton with 84 lines at f2.8). whats impresive about it is that at 1.4, it produces 64 lines. More than ANY lens theyve ever tested wide open, of any format. From f2 to fwhatever the corner are ver decently sharp too, way more than the voigtlander. Real world wise I would have included IS on the lens even if it meant 100$ more and a sort of mechanical focus mechanism when going manual. Its that bad. I simply found it too soft, It took me forever to get used to it. i was discussing with tamoio the very same day I was writing the review how this lens is no good for video. The main reason being the focusing. it makes too much noise in AF and its USELESS in mf. Also, somebody should tell panny that 1/60 of a sec with no IS is not enough for a minimum shutter speed at a 50mm equvalent. 1/80-1/100 is the safer zone. That said, I cant really post the samples from the review itself but I think I can post the ones with the model. I also shot this group of kids that are starting a r&b group on a studio and made it a point to use minimal light. I shot them at f2 and came out moderately happy. Those I can post. I reeeeally liked how close it can actually focus, minimum distance is less than a foot. All in all I gave it a 90% on image quality and an 81% on build. With the 40% off I kept it. We currently have a strong love/hate thing going on...ive literally screamed at it...seriously...imagine that for a while...

heres one. Ok, maybe Im being unfair, If I had used the strobes like studio shots are meant to be, the shot could have been what I expected of it. CLICK it

heres the best of the bunch. Its not the sharpest of the things Ive posted but remember I used minimal light for this. This is 1/80 of a sec at f2. Click it
