How do you carry your camera?
« on: July 09, 2010, 10:11:29 PM »
Mine is generally around the neck with the strap, although sometimes it'll be on my shoulder. With the PEN it's much easier to handhold it, but around the shoulder is what worked best for it.

Mine is in the bag. I usually take it out for taking pictures only. I hate to show it around.

Me too, but when I have it out it's generally around my neck if I'm actively shooting photos.

Im is in the hand, with the strap around my wrist. I haven't put mine around the neck for a long time. But If I had two bodies with me, I might consider putting one around the neck and the other on the sholder.

I use a leather wrist strap. Doesn't get in the way like the neck straps.

Strap around my neck. Always. Pretty straight forward I guess :)

I don’t like wrist straps. I use the strap around my neck. It gives me a “third hand” when I change lenses.

Neck straps do tend to get quite irritating, which is why I started developing the shoulder technique. The only downside is it kind of looks like I'm carrying a purse.

In my handbag - the Pen is great for when I don't want to carry a DSLR.

I tried putting my E-P1 on a wrist strap but soon found that the camera isn't quite petite enough to be dangling from the wrist (a la Canon Powershot) for any length of time. So I put the strap back on. When shooting, it's around my neck; when being transported, it's in my Crumpler bag.

I've always been tempted to carry my camera around fixed to a folded tripod and over my shoulder like the knotted hanky on a stick Dick Whittington had when he wasn't in London. I saw a guy once carrying his camera around in just this way and though this rather rakish and a little bit daring.

Usually I have it dangling from my neck or in the bag.

When I have the neck strap on it, it's on my shoulder. I have a wrist strap but I find it makes my wrist sweat too much in this hot weather.  :'(

have removed neck straps from my four thirds and micro four thirds cameras for 4 reasons
1. forces me  to carry them in my hand so quicker to use
2. doesn't get in the way when using using fisheye or ultra wide angle shots
3. no worries about the camera bouncing on my chest as I run to a position to get the best shot
4. I think you less obvious if you don't have a camera dangling around your neck

You have a GH1 though right? That tactic doesn't quite work as well for the PEN cameras other than the E-PL1. The grip just isn't graspable enough.

I agree. I've been bouncing around trying to decide whether to keep the neck strap on, or replace it with a wrist strap. I have an old camcorder wrist strap, but that's kind of long. I considered maybe one of the small wrist straps normally used for P&S cameras...but will it be strong enough to support the E-P1? (Probably is, but I'm not brave enough to try...)
