A 55mm f/1.2 is really exotic and sounds great, but it has a frighteningly shallow DOF, especially when you're up close. At full open, if you focus (say, in haste) on the bride's nose or lips, there's a good chance the eyes will be out of focus. I only have the 50mm f/1.8 and I noticed this effect.

So, what do people think would help this shoot if I was going to invest say, $350 or $400 in something.  I was considering the 50mm 1.4 to replace my 1.8 at least.

My fastest lenses are the pana 1.7 and the FD 50mm 1.8.  Then the FD 24mm 2.8 and so on into the impossible to shoot in the dark world.

I'm not sure whether spending money on a 50mm f/1.4 would be wise if you already have the 1.8. The difference is only about half a stop. I would use the legacy lenses only for posed shots where you have time to verify focus. Otherwise, stick with m4/3 lenses. The 45mm f/1.8 sounds like a good bet. Don't bother with the 135mm f/2.8--that's far too long for shooting people in m4/3.

The 45/1.8 Oly is $300.00... a great deal, and AF, so, I'd bring a 20/9-18/45/45-200 for long shots, but a bumped ISO... Your flash can help lower the ISO with the 45-200 at certain points of the ceremony that allow flash.

Even the 14-42 is a great lens for sharpness up to about 15', (well the Orig Oly 14-42ED MkI), then the sharpness drops a little.. but still good detail.

This will allow AF with all your lenses at the Wedding.

I think it'll be out in September. Amazon shows the item, but isn't selling it yet--you can only sign up to be notified when it's available.
