Dream photo?
« on: April 22, 2011, 07:03:38 PM »
I have a question for everyone out there; what is your dream photo? What is that one picture that you want to capture that keeps you lying in bed at night staring at the ceiling? I'll start, I dream of going to Paris, France and taking a self inflicted photo of myself standing under the Eiffel Tower. With my Diana camera with a fisheye lens and some redscale film, I want to hold the camera down around my waist pointing up, capturing me looking up into the tower. Cheesy? Absolutely. Has it been done before? A million times. But I still want to take it someday!

The perfect photo of the Golden Gate Bridge that when I look at I can see it as if I was actually there.

Ooooh, that is a good one! I've never been to San Francisco, but I'd love to ride the trolley and get some pics off it!

I think most of the shots that I like of what I took are of places that are kind of fantastic and surreal.  Probably my most favorite are surfing photos.  Usually, when I get stressed I'll imagine going out surfing.  The ocean is extremely surrealistic to me, which is why I also keep a live reef fish tank.  You don't have to go to a far off place to take such a photo either.  Find something that looks kind of cool in your area, take some photos and then photoshop it to make it look slightly alien.  As if something magical was trying to pass into our mundane dimension.

My dream photo would be slightly different to others.  I would love to shoot with my favourite all time BMXer, Joe Rich, he has had style for years before it became the "cool" thing in BMX.  If i could go to Barcelona with him and shoot him riding this nailed old concrete ramp i saw in DIG BMX mag, i would be happy as you like.

I'm all in for the 'Once In Your LIfetime' type of (reportage) shot, - e.g.: A candid of Bin Laden in the exact same moment he comprehended that the Seals had gotten to him, - and there where no place to hide or run!  That's my dream photo. - I think?  Wouldn't mind having one (follow-up) showing the moment his body was was dumped in the Arabian Sea, either.

For me it would be an all access photographer pass for a MotoGP race in Spain or Italy. To be able take one of those incredible action shots of a top rider with the bike heeled over and sliding at 130 mph would be amazing.

Still the perfect photo of the Golden Gate Bridge that recreates every single detail of the moment and makes me think I'm still there when I look at it.

I've gotten close, but still don't have it.

I think it's the getting close that keeps the game challenging and fun.

I do believe that there's always going to be room for improvement, and I suppose that's what keeps bringing me back.  Usually I just look for the photo of the moment and try not to stalk an image, but I see that gradually changing.  Just the same, there was this one moment when I was driving to work and looked in my rear view mirror... the sun was just coming up perfectly in line with the street, but was peaking out from behind some maple trees in the park.  It cast this surreal light down onto the road.  I only had my wife's pocket camera with me and boy are the pictures I took full of noise!  My dream is to recreate that shot, but also somehow time it with the San Francisco-style trolley buses around here.  If that light were shining down on that trolley with the sun-rays just right... and my E-P1 by my side... that's the photo I'm stalking.  I have my photographer's ephemeris and a bus schedule, and it looks like early September is my next chance.  So I'll wait... and hope for good weather.  :)

I go out everyday and believe I will get my "Dream Shot of the Day"...
That's how I look at it anyway.

That way, I have [HOPE] daily  ;)

Dream photo?  I have a few.  Lately (the last few years) I have yearned for some dramatic weather photographs.  I wish to get some good ligtning shots and hopefully a waterspout or tornado.  Although I have lived in areas more prone to lightning, I've yet to get a good shot.  Mostly the wrong place at the wrong time.  One worry had been being out in the rain, but that was cured this year with a camera rain jacket.  That decreases the worries and increases my chances.

Love the previous wish for the Golden Gate Bridge.  I can visualize a shot of the bridge in the early morning with the fog rolling out under it.

Dream photos? I get to take them everyday (shots of my son).
But if I could go and shoot anything? A photo documentary of the Dalai Lama and his journeys around the world.
