Do you save custom settings for recall later?
« on: June 21, 2010, 11:17:53 AM »
I've been playing around with the "My Mode" settings on my E-P1 and have been thinking about what useful settings to save that I may want to recall quickly. I think I've found something useful: add AE bracketing with sequential shooting enabled. Normally enabling bracketing is a huge hassle, so I seldom do it. But there are times when bracketed shots would be useful to experiment with HDR later.

Does anyone else have any favourite "My Mode" custom settings to share?

(I suspect the "My Mode" feature is not that popular or well understood, but it can be very powerful. Let's see if I can start a discussion.)
EM-5, E-P1, FL-14, FL-36R, Rokinon 7.5mm, Panasonic 14mm and 20mm, Olympus 12-50mm, 45mm, 9-18mm, and 14-150mm

I suspect it is a nice feature, but I never played with it.

hi adash  i should but have never gotten around to it

on my ricoh cx 200 which i use for alot of black and white and has color filters for black and white work[programmable ] i have some custom settings for black and white landscapes which darken skies and another for skintones in the 3 custom profiles

sometimes i struggle when a setting for iso is changed mistakenly or color bal shifts accidently

i guess a profile would cure that issue for me ,

Wow, sounds good and really useful. Like the old orange or green filters you put on the lens for bw, I guess.

I dream of a camera with several profiles and a small dial to choose quickly one of them.....

Alas, the E-P1 will not be your dream camera, at least not in this respect. I tried playing around setting two custom profiles. It's easy enough to access a profile using the Fn button. But switching to the other is a hassle. And if you don't already have the Fn button set for My Mode, then reassigning the Fn button and then switching modes is even more of a hassle!  :(
