Show us your selective color!
« on: June 06, 2011, 07:12:08 PM »
I want to be a fan of selective color.   The only time I really tried it was the below.  I turned me off.  Honestly, it is a terrible photograph.  I got this idea in my head which I was unable to achieve and ended up forcing myself to post one of the shots after some rough editing.  That being said, I would love for some of you to post some selective coloring that you admire?

Also, I do like the second photograph much better.  I would even go lower, cut out more of the person.  Hands and utensils and food.

The first one was a bit busy in all color, and weird in all black and white, but it was cute and wanted to keep it. The second one is a better example I guess, without selective color you couldnt tell where the butterfly is! The third one for kicks.

As this was getting away from the original critique, I split the thread. Moving to Photographic Themes and Projects.

It feels stale and contrived to me!  The lady big shot of yours is great!

Actually it's not 'selective color' on this one, - just lookalike, - or wannabe.  However, here's my addition:
