Photo contest: "Toys and Hobbies"
« on: June 09, 2010, 10:28:14 AM »
I would like to announce a new photo contest called "Toys and Hobbies".

The idea is to submit interesting photos of toys or hobbies, to represent to the forum members your achievement in a particular hobby area, or try to promote it to other members using photographs only. Or just have fun  8)
Both crafts and arts count, photography counts too, although photos must be related to the hobby subject. Toys may be pictured in any context, but should remain the primary subject of the composition.

Images should be submitted to the dedicated album in the forum gallery and then included in a reply to this topic together with a short description.

Submission deadline is the end of June 2010.
Forum members will be able to vote by replying to the same topic.
Voting starts July and ends July 15th.
Prize will be something small, but useful, I have not decided it yet.

Edit:
I am adding 15 more days to the deadline for submitting photos; it now ends July 15th and voting will take place after that till the end of July.
See if this attracts more participants: The prize will be a USD 50 gift voucher for a web store of your choice or just USD 50 transfered to your Paypal account.
This is how high I can go for the moment.

Just in case: All photos submitted must be appropriate for minors. Participants are responsible for the contents of their photographs. Contest may be cancelled at any time or photographs deleted from the site without warning.

Do the images need to be taken on a m43 camera? I've got many images from my hobby, but hardly any on m43 since I recently purchased it. Just curious.

No. Go ahead and submit whatever you like. Just drop a line with the camera model and lens, together with the image preview here in this thread.

Of course this would be a great opportunity for you to get to test your new camera.

Absolutely a good excuse to use the new E-P1. But my hobby is centered around events that are spread over the course of the summer, and the next one isn't for three weeks! But in three weeks, I will have a bunch ;)

Okay, I'll bite.  The category seems broad enough to slide this one in!

That's an old croquet ball... growing up there was always a set near by.  I'm not that good, but it's pretty fun.

Croquet has never been popular in my area, so I have never seen such a ball.
Anyway, the pic is good and I am glad to have you as the first participant.

 top photo is the submission
my hobby is modding and adapting for my ep1 and  gf1
especially adapters for lenses  which are  not available
this photo shows 3 projects converged in a single photo
lens cap adapter for hanamex 20 mm f4 underwater fixed focus lens for 110 underwater cameras optimized for better perf at 3 - 40 feet
it a little better than the stock fixed focus that usually  commmits to infinity , i guess the lens designed optimized for underwater working distances, its a reall fun toy  decent focus for most needs , has working diaphram  to 4 to perhaps f16 with everything in between

second is the gear in the lower area it meshes exactly with the wheel focus  for a 1st gen contax g to m4\3 adapter , doubling the focus speed [ from gear ratios] and giving a better tactile focus experence with these lenses both  the contax g 45 and 90 work very well with it

lastly an ebony grip carved and fitted to an oly everyready case it is meant to look like tree bark glued  from the from  screwed from the back ground smooth to not scratch my ep1

seen from the top i believe this is the shallowest fully functional lens ever made for the ep1\gf1
