Art Filter Thursdays! Week 1 - The GRAINY FILM Filter
« on: February 17, 2011, 02:43:05 AM »
Welcome to Art Filter Thursdays! Generally, these challenges will be posted on the first Thursday of every month, and last for the duration of that month (we'll see how active they are). The point here is to not use photos that you've already taken, but to go out and take new ones! We've started the challenge with an art filter that is available on every Olympus Micro Four Thirds camera (Panasonic users can use the Standard Film Mode on their camera if available, if that's not available then we'll work something out) so everyone will have a chance to participate. Occasionally prizes may be offered for these competitions, but the general idea is to get out, take some photos, and post them here!

The staff will vote on the monthly winners in our secret lounge thingy.

Onward!

(oh and you can ask questions in this thread too, the tone is set to be casual)

Parents are coming up this weekend and my dad will want to take photos, so will have to keep this challenge in mind while out and about.

Alright then, grainy film here we go!  Does this one end this month, or are we getting a head start on next month?

For purposes of the staff voting, we'll just pick one, but you can submit as many as you'd like to this thread (increase your chances!).

Well, here's a quickie I just dashed off and took in the hallway, inspired in no small part by acidfood's last photo.  I'll try to get some more (and perhaps more varied) ones when I leave the house tomorrow...

A couple more, from the bedroom window, using my 50mm lens:

Going to a party later, with some goths and (probably) steampunk types.  They might make ideal subjects...

Just put your camera on the ART mode and choose the GRAINY FILM filter.

Is it a joke? I'm talkin' about other settings when you use this (white balance, exposure compensation etc.)

Oh sorry, not a joke, I didn't quite understand. It doesn't matter as far as I'm concerned as long as you're using that filter.

Very nice series, and beer  ;)

The Art Filter BW does a fine job... It is close to High Speed Film effects.

No light at the end of the tunnel.

Here's my first experiment with the Grainy Film art filter: a pedestrian tunnel in Singapore at night. I think I'll be using this filter more often in the future, because I like what I see in this thread. :)
