Experimental: Opinions Desired
« on: January 26, 2012, 02:27:02 PM »
I like to go beyond normal shooting parameters, and occasionally get an interesting capture.  I like this one, but what do you think?  Furthermore, which edit appeals to you the most, if there is any appeal to you whatsoever.

The first one is more appealing on the top half, the bottom doesn't look right. The second one is more appealing overall, but doesn't give as much of an emotional response.

Thank you.

I should mention, the second set are the same as the top set, 'cept they're side-by-side for easier comparison.

I personally would like it with a less centered crop. it is kind of middle heavy IMO.

Thank you for the time you've taken to reply, now to address some posts.

To Shaan: Normally I would agree with you 110%, I am no fan of centered framing.  Not to say there are not some compositions that require and work well with centering, I try to avoid it.  With the image above, I tried a plethora of crops and not one worked in my eyes.  The shapes and angles work in there natural position mixed with the swirl, and all lead towards the center where the swirl effect is at it's least...and where the subject is.  I stand by the composition as it stands.

To asterinex:  I get your drift, but it's been done already.  No need to copy!   ;)

At voyager:  I agree.  The color adds to the overall feeling, and lends a futuristic feel.  The B&W conversion I was able to bring more out, but it feels odd and dated.  I too prefer the color version...

Thanks again!  And if anyone disliked it, hated it or just do not care, you can post too!

the black and white appeals to me intensely. A big part of what makes this image a success is not knowing what it is and in the color version my brain insists on trying to figure out what it is. This is one of those photos that look mundane at a first glance but if you print it big its an artistic masterpiece.

But you all know by now im insane so...yeah...
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...
