Are you really sure ??.

Well a few for macro

Canon 300 2.8 with bellows and excellent for long distance macro, darn sharp results.

----------------------------

Bellows, tube and 55mm Pentax. Great results, but can get similar with the Raynox DCR-250 on a zoom

----------------------------

45 - 200 with a lens stack using the Pentax 55mm in reverse on the zoom. Again good results but might as well use the Raynox. Gives a higher ratio though.

----------------------------

Favourite by a country mile. Versatile and superb sharpness and no CA at all. Good ratio and brilliant working distance.

Raynox DCR on the 45 -200

When hooked up with a ring flash, this combo is near perfect for decent ratio macro work.

------------------------

All the best and not to mention the flash units and tripod gear  ::)

Yes I sure  :), there is a fairly long thread for the E-P1...
We Panny owners need to catch up  ;)

I remember using bellows on a Canon F1, I used my 50mm/1.4...
So, you like the Ring-flash/100-300 with 10x randax... ummmm, I have been thinking about getting a cheap ring LCD flash I could use my 55mm Micro Nikkor, and 135mm f/2.8 Q Nikkor.. I have a cheap 10x filter, but it gives pretty good results..

I guess its what you are into. I couldn't take a decent street shot of a portrait or landscape if I tried :). So for macro and decent lighting a ring flash makes sense. Its very hard to get ISO 100, F/22 any other way consistently. Some don't like the flat look of ring flash and its tough on a shiny surface, bit its darn convenient. If you only take macro shots now and again, its hard to justify, but if you often take macro and want max DOF, then its the way to go. Other flash setups work just as good with brackets, as long as you can turn the power ratio of the flash down to suit.

Anyway, just my opinion and there are many other ways to go about it. No wrong or right, just different.

Love seeing the unholy unions cooked-up by photographers here!  Here's a couple you wont see every day hopefully!
canon 135mm f/2 FD lens.  Fun, heavy and challenging to shoot with.  Thumb smudge and all!

Nikon PB-4 bellows and an EL-Nikkor 135mm F/5.6 taking a break from orchid duty... gettin' JIGGY with it and all bent outta shape!

Thank you for the welcome!  I can't get over how fun micro 4/3rd's has made my day to day photography... I just love the idea of mixing and matching whatever-the-heck lens I want to shoot the job.  I remember being a kid, just learning about photography, and being totally mystified and disappointed that I had to use whatever manufacturers lens with their camera ONLY... shouldn't I be able to use a Nikon lens with that Minolta?? Problem solved!!  More pictures as time allows...
Best,

Here's another lens I've always wanted to try out... just got it yesterday in a "lot" of other camera stuff.  It's sure a "Looker"!  Haha!  You know you're a camera nerd when whistling cat-calls at camera/lens combo's! ;D

 :P
 :P
In case you were wondering what some flowers looked like with this lens wide-open... well, here ya go!  Distance between the first flower and the blob at the far end is less than 6 inches.  There's less depth of field with this lens focused at it's minimum subject distance than a 50mm, as this 35 focuses closer, just under 1'/.3m.

You never know what you'll find growing amongst the Habaneros and the Kohlrabi... wish I could remember where I got the seeds!! ;D  Nikon 28mm f2.  Lovely wide open, ultra-sharp stopped-down.  Almost as sharp as my Lumix g 20mm f1.7...

I'm ready for my close-up Ernest!!

That 55mm 3.5 Micro-Nikkor IS my sharpest lens!  How do you find yours?  I've owned two over the years... The first one often found itself on my trusty Nikon F2, it's sharpness and fidelity impressed my then.  But back then when shooting film, so many other things affected sharpness.  The emulsion itself, developer selection, enlarger alignment, etc, etc... Now shooting digital and being able to see the results with no generation loss, my original inklings of this lens being something special are confirmed.  I had to sell that first 55 micro along with just about everything else I owned back then when I got into a financial scrape... They're gonna bury me with this one!  BTW, that's an interesting 85mm f1.8 Vivi... wonder who made it for them?  Komura perhaps?  Kino precision? Fun to wonder!  I have one of those Nikkor Q 135mm f2.8's too... Thing weighs a METRIC TON!

I got my 55 and 135 on eBay... at a great price (I think)... $65.00 and $45.00
The Vivitar 85 f/1.8 has no diaphragm :'(, It was removed from the previous owner. I got that on the Pentax Forum classified for $35.00...before I had the 85  cleaned up by my local repair shop (www.Camerarepairs.com) in Avon IN., the images looked like the lens blocks were off badly, but, I think my repair re-adjust the lens blocks, and it much better now in daylight. These lenses come up on eBay a few times a year, and I wish I could get one with the blades as a donor lens. CHEAP, the last one with the diaphragm sold for $165.00,  :o

You think the 135mm Q is heavy It for a 135mm  ;), But the 400mm is really heavy for hand held use, I sling it over shoulder like a 20lbs sack when I carry it.  :D

Hope it doesn't look like I'm stalking you, M5-User, but I'm curious where you got the lens hood for your 20mm lens. Looks like something I'd like to get and the 20mm is the one lens I'm keen on right now.

HeavyStar on eBay'
46mm Wide Lens Hood

It may be a bit shallower, but will still work.
I hate that I can't go past 60day buy history..  :(

The Oly 14-42 takes a 40.5 Wide Lens hood...[pictured]. But, vignettes slightly at 14mm-15mm, software can correct if it has a vignette correction tool

It's late and I can't sleep... so here's one for Danny, 'cause he likes FD's.  O.K. it's an FL... Didn't figure anyone would mind.  Canon 55mm F1.2 FL lens in its natural environment... near darkness!  BTW, if you can get your hands on one of these, DO!  Best $60.00 I ever spent!! :D

Nice picture! How'd you manage the nice reflections on the lens?

Thank you for the compliment.  I actually just pointed a desk lamp at the beast and got down to eye-level and clicked one off... reflections were a bonus!  I sold my E-PL1 recently, so this was taken with my trusty old canon powershot s50.  The 55mm F1.2 FL has a reputation for being slower than other F1.2's and I can't figure that out... according to the GH1 in the picture, wide open it's about 3/4th's a stop faster than my Nikkor 50mm F1.4.  F1.2 to F1.4 is in practice, 1/2 stop, so this lens is doing just fine.  It has click-stops at F1.4, and F2, which is awesome, as it allows that extra step of background or exposure control most lenses (Nikkors anyway) leave out with next stop, F2.

I have always  liked older Canon lenses.

Nice grab at $60 bucks.

Unfortunately it gets a little feisty with the adapter, which lost a ball-bearing somewhere along the line.  My Canon FD 50/1.8 has a locking button and fares much better, so it usually stays on the camera more often.

What do you mean by that? The lens sometimes falls off the camera?

The adapter, not the camera :p  I did some tinkering with the adapter to get the 28mm to infinity focus, and as a result the locking ring gets loose after a lot of continuous use.  Pretty much all my own doing, but that doesn't mean I can't complain about it!
