Help!!! GF2...WTF?
« on: February 02, 2012, 05:55:44 AM »
Hi guys...like you know i've got now a GF2. Well, her simplicity for me is a problem...I think that a menu so minimalist and to have entrusted largely to the touch screen as a kind of choice is debatable.

So, i am a little confused. Plus i've got now a problem. I often used with my pen the flash yongnuo 560 connected wireless. I've read that this unit is compatible with GF2 but if i shot with the wireless trigger without the flash on the images are dark, like they're underexposed. This is very weird because with the Olympus Pen this doesn't happen...

I don't know...i really hope that you could help me...i must work with this camera but the start up is not comforting...

How are you doing the wireless?
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

hmmm...panasonic cameras cant send ttl information wirelessly, I put the flash on the manual setting and meter manually. Youre gonna have to play around with the aperture, shutter speed and ISO along with flash power in manual to get correct exposure

But you must push the button of flash in this way, is it true?

no, setting the flash to M mode will give you the option of 1/1 power 1/2, 1/4,1/8, 1/32, 1/64, and possibly 1/128. You must choose from those options to get correct exposure based on your aperture/shuttersped/ISO combo. Its a trial and error thing at first but the flash will fire by itself when you press the shutter.

Another thing that might be happening here is that the camera is compensating for panasonics pre flash system and closing the shutter when the flash has already past. Try it in manual and let me know if that worked.

Sorry Lisandra. It works if i use the flash in combination with built on camera flash, but alone it doesn't works...

Aaaa ok then, glad you figured it out!

but the problem is not this... :'( i am talkin' that with the trigger on the hotshoe  panasonic generates dark photos...and olympus not. Sometimes it could useful when i'm taking shots with flash exclude the flash and shot pictures wth the natural light. With the GF2 now or i use the flash or I remove the trigger...and if i don't wanna use the flash built in camera? I am forced to use the trigger!

That's because Panasonic doesn't support the same kind of flash metering that Olympus does.

The unit works like wireless...The problem is only to be forced to remove the trigger when i wanna take a picture without flash...but yes i wanna share my impressions with them.

That could also be a sync issue from the sound of it.

hmm, weird indeed...when you turn off the flash what program mode are you in? what is the flash symbol you see on the top left corner of the LCD when you turn the flash off? . If its a normal flash symbol then the camera is thinking that the trigger is a flash, even if the flash is turned off, and sets the parameters thinking that a flash will go off. Its supposed to be the flash symbol with a line over it

In every mode: A, P, M...this morning i was in the street and I'm back to my dear olympus pen. But I have to solve this problem. If i use the flash together with the built in flash no problems.

Solved problem!!! Thank you Lisandra...your tips made me think about flash impostations in camera. Well, changing these i solved!

Now it seems all ok...Also with the trigger, when the flash is off the camera makes normal shots.
