Sad to see such a once powerful camera company lose it.

The short answer is a long series of mangement mistakes.

To illustrate one.
Kodak made/makes an excellent CCD sensor but failed to see & capitalize on the shift to CMOS sensor.
-Along this line, I've at least one person state their opinion in that when Kodak was making sensors for Olympus, Kodak should've acquired Olympus camera division.

I believe that their real revenue still comes from photo boots and labs and supplies for them. Those have been steadily declining over the last 10 years, but I have no idea why that sharp negative peak appears...

One article I read on Kodak said they may be looking at selling their considerable patent portfolio, something which could fetch $1 billion.   I'd bet that within ten years the name Kodak is just another brand name owned by a big, faceless, multi-national holding company who slaps it on cheap, generic products, and "the Great Yellow Father in Rochester" will only be a memory.  A lot of fine old brands have gone that way.  On the other hand, the right buyer with deep pockets and a vision for what Kodak could be again could revitalize the company.

amother "impossible project"  ala polaroid , kodak needs to get a visionary .........apple was brought back from the brink by visionary guidance

make great sensors and make a great camera to put it in , corporations are clueless in general and focuses on short term gain over stability and common sense

if kodak stopped makinfg those  dozens of nasty  bottom of the barrel point and shoots and put a world class sensor in asingle camera or 2 like  contax g2 styled body or an epsonesque cosina\voigtlander  rf body they could take over the world , so of course they will not do it

no vision =no future

Kodak always had very neat things, for example an analoge camera with a preview, so you could see the picture before it got on film.
main gear: Canon EOS 600D, Canon 5D, Nikon D3100, Olympus E-PL1, Olympus E-520
