it is but, more importantly, is it even reality? It sounds more wishlist than anything, and I very seriously doubt sigma will let them infringe in their foveon copyright (3mos). If its real ill get one hands down and sell EVERYTHING else I own photography related.

sounds great , but you are not allowed to sell off all of the m43gear, you must keep 1 body and lens , you know, for nostalgic purposes

Sigma don't necessarily have the layered sensor in their bag. Only the foveon approach. That doesn't exclude other ways of doing it.

Basically I'd take all the salt in the world with rumours short of a SAR rating of SR5. And that still needs a little seasoning.

The IR processing in particular is what makes it sound like random made up stuff. That isn't something you can "digitally filter" unless you have a very radical sensor type which is far more exotic than current systems. And that ignores that many or most lenses wont perform reliably in IR, especially not at the same time as visible.
Cameras big and small: Sony HX9V, Olympus E-P1, Canon 300D (IR mod), 7D and many others!

also, imagine the kind of processing power you would need to shoot 3 36 mp sensors at 12 fps

I think it's one sensor at 12.3 MP effective, but with 3 layers.  Each layer it's own color channel for a total of 36.9MP.  I remember talking about this type of sensor earlier in some other thread, and now the dynamic range would be incredible.

its what I thought too, otherwise it would be a 108 mp camera! But then again, Sony isn't known for being conservative...
