Transform your mirrorless into a dSLR
« on: August 12, 2011, 09:20:05 AM »
Sony one ups Oly/Panny again...

http://photorumors.com/2011/08/11/sony-will-release-also-a-nex-adapter-la-ea2-for-a-mount-lenses/

The adapter transforms the NEX into a dSLR.

With the AF speed of newest Pany/Oly models, there is hardly a place for such a thing.
I only see any use for this with continuous AF or with AF in video.
Anyway, AF accuracy has always been an issue with DSLRs, so I wouldn't revert back to this old technology when CDAF is inherently much more precise.

True, but no shutter/live view lag.  The live view lag when shooting sequential is my new pet peeve with mirroless cameras.  This is the best solution to avoid that problem so far.

I saw no mention of an optical viewfinder, only AF sensors, so the lag still remains.
The best way to avoid it is to buy a proper DSLR.

150-200 shot battery life!
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Oh, I thought that mirror was reflecting to a view finder.  How useless...

It's a translucent mirror that reflects to an AF pdaf sensor. It's basically what an a55 does. My opinion on it is that nex lenses are big as it is, to big for their bodies anyway, alpha glass is gigantic. Sooooo, why not carry the slr body while you're at it?

Both Sony and Panasonic need to understand that what's needed is not smaller bodies, its smaller glass.

In other words it makes sense as much as VisoFlex did:

i.e. too little.

I think the point of the Sony adapter is to allow people with SLR/SLT cameras to transition more easily to the NEX. The NEX+adapter would be effectively a SLT backup body then, that can also take NEX lenses when they get round to releasing some more of the things. If you wanted a full SLT, then you'd get one in the first place. If it is cheap enough, it will be a great value add for those completely in the Sony family.
Cameras big and small: Sony HX9V, Olympus E-P1, Canon 300D (IR mod), 7D and many others!

I saw that a few days ago, I made a post somewhere...
It sounds crazy... but, what is real need?
we already have TTL viewing, with the LCD or EFV..
The point of the Visoflex was to allow longer lenses than 135mm on RF camera's so you could focus them, and the FOV was so narrow with the longer lenses.. you needed a reflex finder to frame also...  None of those 2 reasons are valid anymore...

So, Why is Sony going there???
