The 14 Most Influential Cameras of All Time

An interesting selection!
The 14 Most Influential Cameras of All Time

Snip:
Selecting the all-time best of anything is always a daunting task, and that’s especially true of cameras, which have undergone a seismic paradigm shift in moving from film to digital. It’s also a great way to start arguments, generate irate letters and e-mails, and tick off your buddies at various camera companies.

I believe the really influential stuff ends with Nikon F 1959 here. Too much love for some cameras, which although first of their time, did not influence the world too much. Love has been given to iPhone, although the real mass introduction of simple cameras in cell phones happened years before it. Love has been given to a55 by Sony, which neither influenced too much the industry so far, nor was the first to eliminate the flipping mirror.
But yes, some of the cameras here did influence the world. Kodak Brownie surely did.

1936 Exakta introduced the first 35 mm format SLR, the Kine Exakta. In the mid 50s it had evolved into the Exakta Varex, a system camera with an extraordinary number of accessories. I own several models and have rebuild & CLAd a couple of them, including making curtains from scratch. It is also the most beautiful SLR ever made!

The K1000 and the Original Rebel are the only ones I really agree with here. Truth is, when the other ones came out, nobody ever bought them.

Wow, Jason S. has been around for awhile, I'm really surprised there isn't a Rolleiflex or Hasselblad on that list. Not to mention . . .oh, speed graphic? I guess he is thinking "influence" in terms of innovation, but I would never have come up with the Mavica or the Maxxum 7000.

I don't agree on Innovation in that list either - the K1000 is not too innovative, but rather influential, as is the digital Rebel. This seems to be just a list of cameras that he personally likes.
I also agree that Rolleiflex was much more influential than many of these included, as it inspired hundreds of copies in post-war Japan.
Furthermore, was it the Leica I or were the Leica II and Leica III that were more influential?
@ratobuhler: Beautiful machines indeed.

I think it's impossible to create a list where everyone find his or her beloved camera system. Cool to see that I have  at least half of the list in my possesion.
main gear: Canon EOS 600D, Canon 5D, Nikon D3100, Olympus E-PL1, Olympus E-520
