Apparently a Pentax Auto 100 size digital with a 1/2.3 sensor and interchangeable lenses.
Well maybe it will have "In-Lens" f/stops this time around,  but a leaf shutter would be very quite.

And bigger APS-C size mirrorless to be introduced that takes PK lenses... Ummmmm, a deep Body, or a PK mount adapter to m/PK mount ?????

I am surprised Pentax is going there. They are typically a nitch brand... per say.

Not sure about ugly, bu that's the camera with least meaning in itself. 1/2.33 with interchangeable lenses? Why bother, a non-interchangeable super-zoom will perform similarly without the burden of changing lenses...And then again, imagine a 50um dust speck on a sensor with 1um pixel pitch....

Those zooms don't have too little glass, you know. I've seen a TV zoom with a constant F/1.9 and it is not small at all! Also consider this - in a compact camera you always focus after you zoom. Thus the focus distance does not have to be retained along the zoom range. If you make it an external zoom, it will have to retain its plane of focus when zooming, thus many more lens elements will have to be used.
Please also note that the miniature sensor will put a true challenge to the lens resolution and also limit the minimum aperture that can be used to F/8 or even less due to diffraction spot becoming substantially larger than pixel pitch at F numbers bigger than that.

If the sensor is this small and is going to be exposed, can you imagine how hard it will be to clean it?

yes to all that but consider how small  zooms can be made for all the point and shoot cameras with a similar sized
chip ....not asking for f 1.9 across the zoom range  just something like the zooms in cameras like my tl 100 or gx 200... i think they are being chincy with the speed

Yeah, completely correct. These can not serve as zoom-ring lenses however, as in the moment you move the zoom ring, you need to refocus again. In compact cameras these benefit from the inability to zoom while holding the shutter button half way down - you will anyway have to focus again after you zoom.

I thought the same thing, there are some nice lenses... the 50/2.8 and 70/2.8 come to mind as primes.

The E-300 is actually cute. It is also quite innovative because it replaces the pentaprism with two Porro prisms. Also the mirror travels left to right, instead of up-down.
BTW, we used to have a dedicated thread a while ago.
