Possible M10 in May from Leica?

Leica said that every 3 years a new model would be released... Is this the Year for the M10?

What else could they honestly add to it to make it better than the M9?

What about changing their price tag?  To about 1/3 of what it sells for now, - and (also) sell it (the M9) as a 'kit' with the 35mm/f2.5 Cron for a total of abt. $3.500.  I wouldn't mind if the did this, - they could even put the Panasonic LUMIX brand on that gear, :-)

A proper buffer would be a good start. One of the main points of a stripped down manual focus camera is quick responsiveness. If you have to wait a few seconds between each image (longer than it takes to advance the film on a film Leica) then that point goes somewhat lost.
And they could also do something about the noise performance (and get rid of the banding). Maybe it's time to make the switch to CMOS...

But what I really hope for is that their rumored mirrorless-interchangeable-lens-camera will be an M9 (or M10) minus the rangefinder mechanism, and that the new mount will be compatible with M-mount lenses, so you can use them without adapters. And of course, good support for manual focus, like Sony's peaking mode.

I think Leica is designing a Mirror-less "R" replacement,,, I mean, My God, man, What are you going do with all that "R" Glass from the early 60's to the 90's ???

Adapt on Canikon, pentax, Sony or Olympus? Adapt on M-10 if they add focus peaking.

Why do you hate the RF? If they make the focus peaking, it's not in conflict with the RF, you can use either at will...

You misunderstood me, I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE rangefinder focusing. But I'm not gonna be able to afford an M10, so I'm not that interested in what they do in that department. They are however gonna come out with a new (non-RF) mirrorless system that I *might* be able to afford, and I hope that system will be as close as possible to the M series; an M9 (or 10) minus RF, plus AF. That's what I meant.

Why not buy m4/3 or even NEX? Minus the RF, what's the point in having a Leica then? The nameplate itself?

No, I don't care about that. The M9 (and consequently its hypothetical RF-less version) is the world's smallest full frame camera, and the lenses it uses (including affordable ones) are also reasonably small. That I care about. It also happens to be gorgeous.

If they make it the size and looks of Leica III, it's gonna be gorgeous, yes. Now M-9 is not.

BTW, I know it's unlikely that it will be the camera that I dream of. But if anyone is gonna do it, at the moment Leica seems like the most likely candidate.

Thus speaking, I love the look of my Zorki:

Nobody makes them anymore, however.

It's a new camera with black and white only sensor (no color filter array)!  I think I want one.

Cosina and Epson DID shack up, and the Epson RD-1 is a great Digital M RF, Sadly, discontinued.  And only 6mp, and fantastic with 640 and under ISO's. A new CMOS/Live View 10mp/12mp update would have sold all day long new at $2500 against a used M8.2, and delver cleaner high ISO. w/out buying IR/Cut filters because of Huge QC oversight by Kodak.

I don't see Cosina/Voigtlander + ??? making another Digital M, sadly  :(

Yeah, the R-D1 is a quirky thing. I've considered that purchase in the past!!

I don't see Epson going down that road again

Sigma, make niche lower volume cameras. The tech guts of the DP1M in Bessa body. :D

I don't see it either  ;D

Yeah. No LCD and B/W only would be cool. Just, not with a Leica price tag.

Whatever Leica announce will sadly be beyond what my budget can afford.
G5, EP-3, VF 2, 14mm, 17 mm, 20 mm, Nokton 25 mm, 45mm, 12-35 mm, 35-100mm, 14-42 mm, 40-150mm. E-5 and a quiver of 4/3 lenses.

There are so many camera's I want, I can't use the fact that there will be a M10. But it will be an excellent camera.

A follow-up for this camera would also be nice:
