Popo is gonna love.this one I'm sure, its small enough and has interchangeable lenses.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Wait, I just saw the price tag on this thing...pentax is feeling suicidal I guess...
Aren't there already cameras with 2.33 inch sensors that fit in your pocket that cost 300-500$ less. With lenses all the way from 21mm to like 600mm

Yes, but THEY don't have Interchangeable lenses!   ;)

It is a bit ambitious huh?

My gut feeling was it still was a bit big, until I saw some context shots of it and also got out a ruler to compare it to the HX9V. They're about the same, not including any lens on the Q of course.

So size wise, it'll do for now but I can't help think it could be even smaller. The price is a deal breaker unless street prices are radically different.

From my perspective, now I have the HX9V already, the Q would only give an advantage for faster primes and zooms, but even then the value on shallow DoF is minimal due to sensor size. I have to wonder if they're fighting too narrow a niche especially at the premium price.

I might look again if the street price is comparable to the lower end of m4/3 kit prices.
Cameras big and small: Sony HX9V, Olympus E-P1, Canon 300D (IR mod), 7D and many others!

i cant help thinking that they should have built this around  at least a 1\1.7
or 1.6 sensor and released an adapter for c mount ...that would have improved image q potential aloot

it looks like a blast to play with , it even has toy lenses ;D
as a big fan of pentax  110 lenses could you imagine  a condenser lens
adapter for the 18 24 50 and 70 primes? and in body f stops

I wouldn't write this one off yet....
It's just about perfect for the LOMO shooters who are thinking of converting to digital... ;)

Again,
The 2 toy lenses & the fish-eye introduced are also perfect for the Lomo groups.... ;)

We shall see ....However it sure looks like Pentax targed the Lomo group with this release.....And we already know Pentax will have an APS-C sensor based mirrorless camera coming out in Dec/Jan or so... ;)

You should see the reaction on PentaxForums. Everyone thinks it's too expensive there too.

I kept checking my calendar while reading the DPreview article to make sure it wasn't April 1st.....  :o

And people on this forum whine that Olympus is "out of touch"??? 800 bucks list price for something that probably couldn't out-duel a Canon G12 (let alone an m4/3)?

Again...
Pentax will be releasing an APS-C mirrorless camera in Dec/Jan...

It appears to me that the Pentax Q is targeted at the Lomo user....(which I'm not)

I just got banned from a local pentax forum for insistingly bashing Pentax and trolling the forum because of severe software bugs in K-r and this meaningless camera. You can't even imagine what arguments were brought up in pentax' protection...

No, thanks, It's meaningless. Showing the truth to some people makes no difference to them.

i would love to hove this camera and use it rigged with a pentax 70 mm  auto 110 f 2.8 lens
or a 135 3.5 nikkor q or my 200 2.8 fd :o

would anyone help me figure out fovs for the sensor witha 5.6 crop?

would the 200mm lens  be 1100-1150?mm

the long tele crop factor that so cool with micro 4\3 would be even crazier
for adapted lenses from legacy optics

I really don't like all "fanboys/girls"....I'd like to say that I have a more objective view (being able to see the strengths/weakness of all) since I have Sony, Nikon, Olympus, & Sigma bodies....But fans who thinks "theirs" is better than all turn me off....

No one brand is the ultimate IMHO....

Say that to hardcore Pentax fans....
BTW, owners of Sony, Canicon, Olympus trend to be more open-minded than Pentax users.
Or at least that's typical for Bulgarians....
