Interesting.

I wonder if I'd have made a different choice if this, the GF-1, the E-P1 and the E-P2 were all released and available on the same day?

I wouldn't have. This is an ugly camera as far as I'm concerned.

That's my main justification. And boring colour. That, and the lack of two dials for separate shutter/aperture. It uses the exposure shift for access to the aperture on the dial, same as my Nikon D50, which is the most tedious part of using my D50, which I otherwise considerably enjoy. And also I don't want a small camera to look like a squashed dSLR. I want it to look like a rangefinder.

Mind you, a long time ago I owned a Rolleiflex SL-3003, which I really loved until it got stolen, and this would've also been an ideal form factor for a viable digital camera - it was quite small, and ergonomically, everything was just right about it.

There might be a E-P1 style coming from Samsung later this year based on the APS-C sensor.

The Samsung NX-10 will not be able to adapt Leica M lenses because of the part of the lens bayonet that sticks into the camera. This part is 6.7 mm long and has a diameter of 43.5 mm. With m4/3 this part fits inside the adapter (just) because the adapter is 8.6 mm long. But the adapter for the NX would be too short and the throat diameter on the camera is (almost certainly) too small to let this part extend into the camera. The diameter would have to be at least 44.5 mm for this to work. That's as wide as standard Fourthirds. And even if it was that wide, the lens would probably foul the electrical contacts in the body.

I really don't get it ... Oly & Pan are in a shared system, an open format, anyone can make lenses, no charge for usage - and who knows, maybe someone else will play with the little camera idea (canon? nikon?)

but Samsung out there on its own with no following, with a smaller than dSLR bigger than m43 camera?
its got fail written all over it.  Perhaps Samsung's deal with Pentax has run out and this is there attempt at going solo?
I just don't get it.

Sure FourThirds was a gamble, but had several players (three in reality, that we can 'see':  Oly, Pan, Sig/Lenses) ... but the whole idea was 'this is an open mount' anyone else want to play so we can swap lenses.  You can see why Canon/Nikon stayed away, they had no need to play.  Until now with the really nice looking and well spec'd E-P1/E-P2/GF1

the committees which are the decision making apparatrus of the camera companies are brain dead........ deaf and blind ...........and completely out of touch with , the millions who buy these machines, and wait patiently for lenses that 30 years ago would have been in the standard lineup.

im amazed that the brilliant designers who made the ep1 and the gf 1
ever saw their designs see the light of day,

where is a micro 4\3 fast zoom where is a fast prime?

they are idiots who are so  completely   out of touch  with cameras and the lens we need for them  they might as well be producing  blood pressure monitors or digital watches
