Interested?  Eh, maybe.  The resolution capability of whatever lens you put on that thing better be boosted with a little magic fairy-dust though... I don't know of too many lenses capable of resolving that fine a pixel-pitch.  Must be over 100 lp/mm.  Most full-frame lenses struggle to achieve 85 lp/mm.  I suppose it's not much different than a 24mp sony aps/c sensor, and the current 16mp m4/3 sensor are butting-up against the ceiling of the available lenses resolution capabilities.  If your lens can't deliver the lines-per-millimeter, your sensor can't see sharp pixels.  But whatever... companies need to sell cameras, people love to brag about mega-pixels... Personally I'd have preferred a full frame sensor optimized for improved dynamic range, low noise, and possibly no low pass filter...oooh, oooo!  Add in a internally retractable IR-cut filter so I can dust-off my b+w 092 filter and such!  As way "weird" as Canon got with their $20000 eos camcorder, I think they absolutely nailed it with the new EOS 1D-X.  The proof's in the pudding, but the concept is totally on the money in my book.

with a pixel pitch of  4.89 microns theres no way itll have the fairy tale noise control nikon fans are dreaming of...thats .8 microns away from the GH2...The 1Dx beats this in my book...

i agree with ernie, furthermore, I dont think nikon has fx lenses that even reach 70 lines. Its what Ive been saying for months now, m4/3s lenses are desingd especifically and optimized for the sensor, its why they get astounding resolution marks.

More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

The unknown is how Nikon's new Expeed III image processing system (Currently only on the J1/V1) will do with this new sensor....

I like how the second, front view picture of the camera has a DX lens mounted.  Either Nikon ditched the full frame sensor, or the Photoshopista isn't particularly well informed... haha.  The top pic, rear view appears to be a different camera, or perhaps just another guess of what it will look like, integrated vertical grip etc.  Trying to cover more bases with more guesses.  Either way, the more I think about it, the less likely I think it is that Nikon will triple the pixel-count in one just model progression... much more mileage to be had by stretching it out   Do we even know if Sony or anyone else for that matter is offering a chip like what's been rumored?  Don't we usually see Sony's come out before the other makers with the most recent Sony sensors?  I think Nikon learned their lesson to stick to their strengths and not try to design their own sensor as they did with the nasty LBCAST sensor in their D2H... but who knows.  Maybe they'll start making them in-house like brand X.

Sony did develop a 36 mp sensor that they intended to use in the a99

The more people speculate about this D800, the more appealing D700 becomes to me...

It is still a great camera. Not anymore if you intend to do equipment masturbation about it however.
