new ricoh mirrorless developed by pentax

http://www.1001noisycameras.com/2011/09/new-ricoh-mirrorless-developed-by-pentax-.html

im ricohs biggest fan ...i guess you know but ive always lover pentax too especially for the tiny slr lenses of thei r legendary 110 system
i was inspired to make my first lens adapter to use the 18mm 2.8 24mm 2.8 and 50mm 2.8 pentax 110 lenses
all three can easily fit hour hand together!, these lenses have an image circle almost identical to m4\3 and so are the best fit of any adapterd lens line, and they work great ...all of them
, the q , the brunt of many jokes looks to be a cool little machine,,,an adapter for k mount willl allow a 200 2.8 [i have that in fd mount] to be a 1080 f 2.8 monster

at low isos this is a birders\wildlife dream cam

now ricoh and pentax forging ahead and here comes a new mirrorless with a larger sensor
[q`s sensor is unecessarily small, it should have been a 1\1.7 imho ]

im very excited by this news mostly as a legacy lens solution

Interesting indeed...

But, why not m4/3?   They want a proprietary lens sales....
A slightly smaller sensor..... meh...

They will have go through a few generations to develop a decent sensor... m4/3 sensors are mature now....

No real selection with "Another" lens/sensor combo at 1st. may take years to build a decent lens line..m4/3 system lenses offer 12mm - 100-300 + a few macros, and some great primes....

Still in the mind set of not wanting to engage in a "Open Mount" system.... Maybe they think no one would buy Pentax, Nikon, Canon made native m4/3 lenses ... they have no clue, do they... Still thinking "Closed" market for just their lenses and sales....

Would they do better with a m4/3 body offering with THEIR Brand on a selection of m4/3 lenses???? maybe...

They probably want to utilize Pentax' broad IP and expertize in CCTV lenses and systems. No security system has 4/3 sensor, so it would be wiser to adopt something that their lenses already work with. 1/2.5" is a nice example....
Too pity they will still have to travel the long way to maturity indeed...

Well, if so, hope they have made sure there DSLR lenses  can fully engage the electronics for use on them.. Something Oly didn't do...I wonder if it could have a Duel AF system...you know, Contrast and Phase detection.... an adapter would automatically switch to Phase detection.  Just a thought, if this would work.?
