I'm also surprised they didn't go to a tilt-articulating touch screen. I guess they decided that if you can afford the camera you can afford the outboard monitor when you want to do video.

Everyone in video-land is foaming-at-the-mouth over this camera as some sort of portent of things to come on November 3rd. . .they are warming up the chorus to sing "Canon Canon uber alles"

I'm still a little puzzled about what comes next. I guess that high-end DSLRs are just going to get better and better at video acquisition and they will continue to nearly ignore audio.  Anyone who has tried it knows that actually working with a DSLR on anything that you actually need synchronized sound on is an enormous PITA. Canon HDSLR definitely has an entrenched fan-base, thats what puzzles me; why would they go Hollywood at this point with a "big boy's camera"?

More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

It *appears* that Canon owners like the progression/maturation of this model.....

I was expecting them to be mad that they don't get their 1.3x crop factor anymore.
