I like how Dpreview didn't do a preview again. They're still mad about the 1D Mark II incident, I suppose.

'there's more to image quality than just resolution.'

NOW they think so...canon single handedly started the megapixel war. I guess they passed the baton to sony...
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

my guess is some flavor of mpeg probably in a .mov wrapper?  A mere $6800. I'm interested in the integral GPS option and this "universal time code" function, in theory you could run multiple cameras on this and do a proper sync in post. I could almost get excited about this camera if it was mirrorless.

I was also sort of thinking that CF cards were just about dead...

yup, mpeg it is... they did a workaround the recording limit with some clever stuff. it records separated files but keeps on recording. not bad. Canon rumors say that on preproduction firmware noise is non existent up until ISO 25k...

This one is really really cool. Two digic 5+ processors, the AF has it's own DIGIC 4 processor. You can create sets of pre-made AF fields and store it on the camera. The AF has it's own pages in the menu to create those presets. But the price, damn. My 5.2 V8 Grand Cherokee costed less.

Very nice, but something I do not need.  I'd rather get glass...or a Leica M9.   ;)

14fps has to be set in jpeg mode and ISO has to be set bellow 3200. Impresive nonetheless...

impressive yes , but the price of this makes it something i would never consider and spend very little time thinking about  ....pros and news orgs only need apply....im interested in what technology reaches the 1500 or less body, right now im waiting for that olympus version  of an x 100 [m43] or a panny pro with an integrated  evf in an evolved gf 1 styled body.... im also thinking  about the upcoming x 100 ilc type machine which could be as exciting as the contax g and g 2 when they came out, im also seriously considering a nex 7 really  body only for us with adapted glass

the enormous size of the canikon machines of this calibre strike me....frankly , as insane .........why pro slrs have evolved into giant amorphous meteorites
is something that beyond me , does anyone remember the canon f1? the nikon f3? the  elegant and small olympus om-4 and om-4t? the gemlike pentax lx?
the beautiful contax slrs?

what the hell happened?

It's interesting they merged the 1Ds and 1D lines. I doubt a lot of Canon photographers are happy about that.

@lisandra, why are you pinpointing on things with a negative view.

Those top camera's are the future for consumer camera's.

and yes if you are taking pictures of a wedding, you probably manage it with 1 per second. If you want to take a drifting indycar at top speed, you are probably glad with an extra 3.

The fact is that you have 14 almost indentical pictures where you can pick the best from.

And!

Why should you run the 100 meters in 9 sec if you can do so in 11.
