Hm, sounds innovative. The main idea is however to use the massive amount of pixels for digital zoom.

Good to see a lens cover on a phone!

If it was Apple or Android OS I'd have one!

Aaaaaaaaaaparently, the sensor pixel size is jot that bad. 1.6 Microns vs the iphones 1.75
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

Same old Male Ego thingy

Who got the Biggest P***s.  Nokia is in need of a financial infusion! 41mp just might do it!

My thoughts: http://admiringlight.com/blog/the-future-of-casual-photography-is-here/

I include some full size crops and a full size image in 5MP mode.  This is the future of photography folks...the image quality out of this is absolutely stunning for a cell phone, and is pretty darn good regardless.  You don't get this for so-so pixel quality at 38 megapixels...you get it for REALLY GOOD quality at 8-12MP.

I guess I don't understand the lack of understanding here.  You're talking about a camera phone, which you would always have on you, in your pocket, with image quality essentially as good as first generation Micro 4/3 (like, G1 level).  That's pretty awesome.  For us, of course it's not going to replace our full time cameras, but this is the first cell phone camera that legitimately is as good or better than any other compact camera on the market.  I use my iPhone for a fair amount of photos, and if it had image quality like this, I'd use it for even more.  I mean, it's a cell phone cam that could print legitimate LARGE prints...

As I live only some 12km away from home place of Nokia corp. (Nokia city Finland) I want to wish them all the best. I have seen how that company grew and now lately as they have had bit worse times (plus kicking people off here and there :().

Still some 40-35 years ago Nokia were actually multi industry company producing for example following products: pulp & paper products, rubber boots & car tires and surely electronics (cabels, TVs, amplfiers, telephones etc.). Many of those other areas factories are still alive in Nokia city area...but nowdays owned by other companies.

I guess it was 1990 as a young University student...I bought my first (Nokia) GSM-mobile phone (before that I had owned couple of Nokia NMT mobile phones).

They are responsible for the very first cell phones. Well, after Star Trek that is.

Hm, I thought that Motorola invented the cell phone.

Motorola: I belive that you are right.

At 1990 there were 3 companies mobile phones available here...Motorola (USA), Ericsson (Sweden), and Nokia (Finland). And already on those days two Scandinavian companies were someway ahead of Motorola. By then I shortly liked even bit more Ericsson's GSM-models than Nokia's (and that was hard to admit as being Finn  :D).

Well, times changes, and now these mass products (and all of their compounds) have been mainly produced in Asia...and probable next somewhere in Africa.
