Technically you are correct. It is 50+% larger. In terms of exposure however, 50% more is half a stop.

or it 50 % more area for pixels... so the same number of pixel can be significently larger not sure of the science here

but i thing fuji has a few well used tricks for small sensors that haver earned the accolades with the f 30 and 31 if i remember the models name correctly
i think fuji will surprise us with tremendous performance with this new sensor , thats a company s camera division that on a mission!!

i can wait to see their next several high end cameras... p&s, fixed apsc , and interchangable lens  with any sized sensor!

Seems to be some minor mix-up here, cosinaphile.  Correct should be: The Fuji X10 sensor (2/3"): w:8.8mm - h:6.6mm - area: 58.1mm2 ['çrop factor'=3.93)
                                                                                                           In comparison:       (1/1.8"): w:7.18mm - h: 5.32mm - area: 38.2mm   (= 52.1% greater areal).

Your point that this is a significant larger sensor compared to what many (of the high end) P&S cameras are equipped with, is, however, to the point.  My price guess: US$ 499.00.
For sure looks to be a nice travel companion for anyone serious about photography.  The 'form and design factor' is ten out of ten as far as I'm concerned.  :)

holy moly i messed up my cut and pasting of the multiplication equasions during the creation of that post
lo  lthanks .... inthink i got it fixed now ... backwards AND inverted some figures to boot .lol...what a mess !!i.. also thaks for the more specific percentages , they only serve to stregnthen my point that this sensor is meaningfully larger

i hope fuji makes the most of it !! thanks again ....sheeesh!
