I just don't see people spending so much money. It's $2000 easily with any of the lenses.

There's no way the camera body will only be $1200.

Update from Fujifilm press conference at CES 2012: The X-Pro1's price will be around $1700, with lenses in the $650 region. The company says it will release 9 lenses for the X-mount over then next three years, including zooms, as well as prime lenses. The widest currently planned lens is a 14mm (21mm equivalent), and there will be mount adapters, with the Leica M-mount being the first to become available.

a bit surprised that it is as large as an M9, seems like it could stand to lose a little weight there.

http://www.dpreview.com/previews/fujifilmxpro1/images/sbsm9p.jpg

i'd love one in my stable, based on specs at least. but i don't see my GF2 and 20mm being replaced any time soon in terms of bang for the buck

1) People said that about the X100 and it's still tough to find
2) Compared to the Leica M9, this is a bargain

I just can´t see the moment when the full resolution image samples are out to be seen.
This camera promises a lot but truth will find its path.
I found this an interesting proposal and the most intriguing part for me is the new sensor with new color filter pattern.

100% agreed, I trashed the x100 to the ground and doomed it to fail only to have to swallow my words when it came out.
More megapixels don't necessarily mean more resolution...

this camera will sell well at 1700 body ...but i wish fuji  sold it for 1500 body or 1700 with the 35 its a little steep

but its still less that 1\4 the price of a m 9

And some claimed the X100 would not sell at the asking price but ithas sold very well and especially as a compact camera for pros and semi-pros. The x-1 will sell to those that want something more like a Leica M-series on a budget.

It is less risky to make a profit with high cost, low volume production than high volume low profit production. Fujifilm's business volume is sound.

ISO 1600 with the macro lens.

ISO 400 with the same lens

ISO 200 with the 35mm 1.4 at f8

Detail retention is indeed quite solid, and the ISO 1600 is impressive to say the least, but you have to admit the images are quite flat and dull straight out the camera. They seem lifeless...overall things are looking good for fuji

The more I look at it, the less attractive I think it is. I wish they'd incorporated the grip into the body shape more, like on the X100 and X10, instead of it being stuck on there afterwards.

I'm gonna wait for some in-depth reviews, and see what the price for the body + 35mm kit will be a few months after the launch, and if it lands somewhere near the previously reported €1300 ($1600) I'm totally buying it. Unless Olympus manages to win me over with their new camera, that is ;)

Hmm... it says it's got (TTL) contrast detect AF. So much for all the talk about a separate focusing sensor. In the videos and the product page they say nothing about having improved the AF compared to the X100. Let's just hope they did. They apparently listened a lot to peoples complaints, it would be a crying shame if they didn't listen to the most important complaint of all.

There is an accessory grip like the Leica M grip...

I wonder if the lenses could be adapted to m43 mount.
