At the moment, because of a firmware update, you can use all A mount lenses with all functionality.

deja vu...its not because of firmware, its through the use of an adapter with a semi transparent mirror inside. You might as well go get an alpha mount camera.

Exactly.
My main issue was the lack of & slow release/availability of E-Mount lenses...

I never said that it didn't need an adapter, from the Sony eSupport site:

This utility updates the NEX-5 Camera Firmware to version 04 and provides the following benefits:
Improvements over version 03:
Adds the function to use "Picture Effect" modes
Adds the function to use "Peaking Level" and to select the "Peaking Color" in manual focus mode
More details about benefits provided by firmware version 04.
Benefits provided by previous updates and included in version 04:
Adds "Soft key Settings" to the "Setup" menu to allow customization of the soft keys
Adds the "Menu start" function
Adds two more settings to the "MF Assist" function
Improves menu item selection using the Control Wheel
Changes the aperture setting function so the setting is maintained when using "Background Defocus Control" or "Aperture Priority" movie recording modes
Adds support for auto focus with Supported A-mount Lenses
Note: Requires a firmware update for the LA-EA1 Mount Adapter (Mount Adapter sold separately).

Adds a function to enlarge the image when "Release w/o Lens" is set to "Enable"
More details about benefits provided by firmware version 03.
Adds the 3D Sweep Panorama function (More information about supported 3D functions.)
Improves the Sweep Panorama function
Resolves an issue where the battery may be drained even if the camera is turned off
Reduces start-up time under low light conditions
main gear: Canon EOS 600D, Canon 5D, Nikon D3100, Olympus E-PL1, Olympus E-520

Okay, let me explain in detail.... :)

1) I get Sony NEX-3 and wait approximately 6 months for decent USA availability of the 18-200 lens

2) Nikon announces "1" system camera, with 4 lenses.  30 days after announcement, bodies are available in all colors. 45 days after announcement, all 4 lenses are readily available in the USA. Much, much, much faster than NEX.

3) I had the LA-EA1 adapter and 2 A-mount lenses along with the latest firmware to allow peaking.  In reality, autofocus with A-mounts and the LA-EA1 adapter is slow and manual focus with "peak" assist is often times quicker.

But...I don't want A-mount lenses & we're still waiting for Sony lenses(Zeiss & 50mm) that were announced months ago.

This are arguments. This is what I want to hear. Shitty or other bad language non arguments are giving me a headache.

How is the 45mm f/1,8 lens? Anyone experiences with it?

Well if  'Shitty' is bad Language ???  I thought it was a cute word.

By the way, thx for the tip. I bought the 45mm 1.8 today at FOKA Rotterdam.
1 hour drive from Antwerpen :) I post some pictures in another thread.

Bad in terms that it is an expression for what you feel for the camera, but isn't measurable.

Does everything always have to be measurable? Am I'm not allowed to express a feeling? Besides that ? I posted a picture and mentioned that the lens is very soft especially at the borders. What do you expect from me ? Statistics, mathematical proof, percentages, tables...:)

No, but what you say in public on a site will be used in the consideration to buy a camera or not. So although I think it's an ugly camera, I will not try to use that as an argument on a  public site. But then again that is my opinion.

Fair enough, I wrote this in an angry moment. I should have written it more nuanced. I agree.

Plus you already had Nikon, which makes things much easier.

A camera can be "good" in measurable terms and still be a "shitty" camera. To me an opinion is an opinion regardless of how its said.

Obviously putting the NEX series to it's full pocketable potential.

I don't think Sony marketed/advertised the NEX as being pocketable.....They did advertise the C3 as being the smallest interchangeable lens camera though...

I meant this to go back to your original statement, more native glass is needed. Adapters are cool, but they're not substitutes.

In fact, I think bodies should be made around lenses and after they've been created, like NIKON did.

I think that with the arrival of the NEX 7 there will be more lenses.

Being an experienced USA NEX system owner myself, I have serious doubts about this statement (which is of course why I dropped the system)....

The nex 7 is proish enough, they really need to put off body making for a good year and a half or so and start covering the ranges. Slow zooms, couple of more primes, some pancakes and maybe some fast zooms at the end of it all. But they need to start now

The only real issue is that it doesn't seem like Sony is more interested in developing the various systems they've created as they are creating more systems.
